New Assignment for 2-4-2022

Students and parents,

I hope that you all have enjoyed the two “snow days” this week!  I hope that everyone was able to stay warm and healthy over these few days!  I have just updated all of the grades for the first two weeks of the 2nd semester.  We have had two summative quiz grades so far.  There are a few of you who have not completed one or both of these quizzes.  As a result, many of you have failing grades in Geometry until these quizzes are completed.  They are both posted in Envision.  There are also four assignments that have been assigned so far.  Two of them are posted in Envision (Cw1 and Cw3), and two assignments (Cw2 and Cw4) are paper assignments which are posted in Schoology.  They are found in the blue weekly folders.  I have also done two workbook checks for sections 6-1 and 6-2.  The workbook pages are also posted in Schoology in the blue weekly folders.  Please complete all missing work by the end of this week if possible.

I also wanted to remind all of you that I will be absent tomorrow.  I am leaving a new assignment (Cw5: Kites and Trapezoids WS) which is posted in Schoology.  This is at the top of the page for my class.  I have also posted an answer key for this assignment in Schoology.  Please try to complete this assignment on your own during class tomorrow.  After you have completed it, then you should check your answers according to my answer key.  I will answer any questions that you may have on Monday.  I have also uploaded the workbook pages for the next section (6-3: Properties of Parallelograms) in Schoology, and I uploaded the interactive student edition for this section in Envision.  You should complete these workbook pages if you have time tomorrow.  You will also find 8 screencastify videos for this section in Schoology.  We will discuss this section in detail on Monday of next week.  I hope that you all have a great weekend!

1st Week of Semester 2

Students and parents,

I just wanted to send a message out to everyone as we finish our first week of the second semester.  Many of you have done a great job at getting off the a great start for the second semester.  There are five entries into the gradebook in StudentConnect and many of you have very good grades for all five entries.  However, there are a few of you who are missing some assignments and/or quizzes.  We did take our first summative lesson quiz today.  There are quite a few students who still need to complete this quiz.  I know that a few of you were absent today.  You still have the ability to log into Envision (Pearson EasyBridge) and complete this lesson quiz from section 6-1 (Qz1).  This is summative grade worth 5 points.  I will put in a score of 0 until you complete this quiz.  Please don’t panic if you see that you have an E grade now because of this.  You need to complete this quiz as soon as you possibly can.  It will be hidden after the end of this first unit and then you will not be able to make it up.  There are also two assignments (Cw1 and Cw2) which have been entered into the gradebook.  Cw1 is posted in Envision, and Cw2 is posted in Schoology.  Cw2 is a paper assignment.  If you were absent, then you can print off a blank copy of this worksheet and send me a picture of the assignment completed as an email attachement, or you can show me the next time you are in class.  I also checked the first section of the workbook (6-1).  Once again, you can take a picture of your completed workbook pages or show me when you return.  There are also still a few of you who need to complete the Topic 6 Readiness Assessment (RA6) which is posted in Schoology.  I have put in a 0 score for allstudents who have not completed this.  You can also still complete this assessment and receive full credit if it is done soon.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!  I hope that you all have a great weekend!

Welcome to Semester 2!

Students,

We are halfway through the school year already.  Today marks the beginning of Semester 2.  We start the semester with two half days.  On Monday (1/24/22) we will have hours 1, 2, and 3 in the morning.  On Tuesday (1/25/22) we will have hours 4, 5, and 6 in the morning.  I know that some of you may be in quarantine to start the semester.  Please go into Schoology and answer the questions in the “Discussion” post as a reflection over our first semester.  I want to know what worked well and what you would like to see changed as we move into Semester 2.  I have also assigned RA6: Topic 6 Readiness Assessment in Envision.  Please go into Envision and complete RA6 by Friday of this week!  I want to have a great semester with everyone, so let’s start off this semester right and complete all assignments on time.

Welcome Back Students! Welcome to 2022!

Students,

I want to welcome you all back from Christmas break!  I hope that you all had a wonderful couple of weeks of rest and relaxation with your families!  Today, as we return from our break, I want to focus on completing our next Readiness Assessment for our new unit (RA5: Topic 5 Readiness Assessment).  This is posted in Envision.  It is 18 questions and you will be awarded points for completing this assignment.  Please don’t worry if you get a lower score on it.  I need everyone to complete this assignment today if possible.  If you are absent today, then you can still complete this assignment at home.  We will also be moving on to a new unit and a new section today.  I have posted the completed workbook pages for section 5-1 in Schoology.  I have also posted this section in Envision.  We will be learning this section today and tomorrow in class.  Please complete the workbook pages for section 5-1 by Wednesday of this week.

For those of you who did not do as well as you would have liked on your last test, then there is an opportunity for a retake of this test during T-time of this week.  Please have me fill out a pass in your planner and you can come see me during T-time this week to improve your test score.

As always, I encourage you to check Student Connect often to see what assignments or lesson quizzes that you may be missing.  We have three weeks in this first semester.  I want everyone to finish on a positive note!  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Angle Relationships

Geometry students,

In our next section, we will be exploring different types of angle relationships in Geometry. We will also be learning how to set up Geometry proofs. This section is very important because this material will be used throughout the remainder of the year. In Schoology, I have posted 7 videos for section 1-7. If you have been absent recently and missed some of the class discussions, then I highly encourage you to watch these videos to help you gain understanding of these angle relationships.

Power Outage at Edsel Ford on 9/15/2021

Students,

Good morning everyone!  I hope that you all have received communication from the school that the power is out at Edsel Ford, so we will not have classes today.  Please continue to work on the assignment posted in Envision which is Cw5.  We will go over this assignment tomorrow in class.  We will also be taking our second lesson quiz about midpoint formula and distance formula.  I hope you all have a great day!  I will see you tomorrow!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parents (and students too),

Parent-teacher conferences have been scheduled for this coming week.  Tuesday, April 13, 2021 is the actual day for parent-teacher conferences.  The conferences are scheduled to be held from 4:00pm to 7:15pm on that day.  However, I can make arrangements to hold conferences during my virtual office hours time on Monday of this week.  There are some different ways that we can communicate about the progress of your student:

  1. Virtual Meeting (preferred method):  I think the most effective way that we can hold parent-teacher conferences for this semester is through a virtual Zoom meeting.  There will be a Zoom link in your student’s Schoology page to access the parent-teacher conferences between 4:00pm and 7:15pm on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.  Please send me an email tellling me which time would be a good time for you.  I ask you to be patient because there may be other families in a conference when you try to log in to the Zoom meeting.  I will keep you in the waiting room until I can admit you into the meeting.
  2. Email:  If you are not available during the conference time, then we can certainly communicate about the progress of your student through email.
  3. Phone call:  If it is not possible to attend a virtual meeting or communicate through email, then we can try to arrange a time to communicate through a phone call.

I appreciate the opportunity to work with all of your students this year.  There certainly have been challenges along the way.  I know I have learned a tremendous amount over the past year of how to adapt to these unique challenges of remote learning.  I ask that if would like to have a conference with me in any way, that you please contact me through email, and please include your full name and your student’s full name.  Please also indicate which time period will work out best for you.  Please note that parent-teacher conferences are completely optional for everyone.  In fact, most of my students are doing very well currently, so unless you do have some concerns about the progress of your student, then it may be best to leave most of the conference times for the families of students who are struggling more right now.   I am glad to meet with any of you! I greatly appreciate all of your support!

Daily Blog for 3/11/2021

Students,

Good morning!  I want to remind all of you that my 1st and 2nd hours on 3/11/2021 will be asynchronous.  This means that we will not be having a Zoom meeting today.  I will be getting my 2nd vaccine dose in Detroit this morning.  The asynchronous material that I would like you to work on today is listed below:

  1. Discussion Topic:  Please go into Schoology and write at least one response or comment in my Discussion Topic.  This is the main way that I will be taking attendance for this day.  I appreciate any productive comment that you add regarding my class.  My goal is to help you all succeed.
  2. RL12:  This is a new assignment that is posted in Envision.  It is a review assignment for this unit Topic.  This assignment will be very much like the unit test that we will take on Monday, 3/15/2021.
  3. Qz8:  This is a lesson quiz for section 7-5.  This is a summative grade.
  4. RL11:  This is an assignment for section 7-5 and it is posted in Envision.  Many of you have not completed this assignment.
  5. WB7:  Please upload the last page of the workbook for each section in Topic 7 into WB7 posted in Schoology.  These are the “Do you understand?” and “Do you know how?” problems.  You should have these pages for sections 7-1, 7-2, 7-3, 7-4, and 7-5.
  6. Older missing assignments and lesson quizzes:  Many of you have numerous missing assignments and lesson quizzes.  This is a good opportunity to make up this missing work.

I will have virtual office hours today from 1:45pm to 2:55pm.  Please feel free to come see me to get help on any of the assignments or quizzes.  I look forward to seeing you all very soon!
