Homework and Reminders 10-8-19

Homework— ( 4 things!!!) ****PLUS LIBRARY BOOK!!!

  1. Oakman Folder- sign and return behavior calendar for OCTOBER!- letter Ee bag if you forgot today! Letter Ff bag!Today we talked about the letter Ff and its /f/ sound, like in fireman, frog, fish etc. Please find 3 items at home that start with the f sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Wednesday, October 9th).  Thank you!

2. Reading bag- NEW SIGHT WORDS ARE IN THEIR BAGS— I, like, the, see, we,  go, can, she, a, and at. Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS! ***Students will be tested over these 10 words NEXT WEEK so practice each night!!****

3. NEW READING GROUP BAG – Please fill in log each day!!! Please use the pointer finger to put their finger under the first letter of each word as they read. Please read the book at least 3 times and sign the paper inside their bags so I know they did their job! Please send the reading bag back to school each day. GREAT JOB WITH BAGS— read same books tonight for FLUENCY! ***IF YOU HAVE FLUENCY DOWN, PARENTS PLEASE EXTEND the reading by asking questions such as:

  • Find the WORD “the” on this page.
  • What LETTER do you see at the beginning of the WORD?
  • What LETTER do you see at the end of the WORD?
  • After reading, can you RETELL what happened?? What happened in the beginning, middle, and end??

4. Math Homework Workbook Lesson 21 homework page 87 AND 88 (helper on page 85).—Make sure number formation is correct!! If not, ease and try again!! Parents please check as correct number formation is important!

***Make sure all 4 things come back to school in backpacks!!!***

  • 10-11-19 ***THIS FRIDAY!!!** Half Day – All students AM. Dismissal @11:45 AM. BRICS- Parents informational meeting @9AM in the Cafe.
  • 10-16-19   Late start Wednesday – school starts @ 9:30 AM and
  • 10-28-19         Spirit Week ( more info coming).
  • 10-31-19        Halloween Day
  • 11-01-19 Half Day – Elementary students. Dismissal @11:45 AM

Students are excited to bring home log in cards to be able to read and listen to Benchmark e-books! 📚 💻 👍🏻

This is *extra* practice and another great resource to get a variety of interesting books for your child to read and listen to! We will go over these steps in every Monday when we do buddy reading so they will get more familiar and be able to use these resources at school if you are unable to at home.

Step to follow:

  1. Use login Card (found in clear front READING BAG)
  2. GO to dearbornschools.org
  3. Go to Student Resources
  4. Go to ilearn classrooms
  5. Use BLUE number for login
  6. Use RED number (on back) for password
  7. Click Classes
  8. Go to BMAK (BENCHMARK)
  9. Go to K for kindergarten
  10. Choose any of the e-books– — click “no” for customization **Must click “play” bottom at the top to LISTEN to the book (computer will read)

Next week’s test— please work at these skills at home this week so your child is ready! 1. write name without looking at name tag 2. name all uppercase letters 3. name all lowercase letters 4. read 1st 10 sight words

5. POETRY BOOKS– review ALL POEMS and practice new poem, Apples. Ask what the different colors mean. Green= capital letter at the beginning of the sentence, red=ending mark, and yellow= rhyming words! ***Make sure your child points at each word as they read this poem to you. Parents, Please sign the log in the front of the notebook tonight and tomorrow– I WILL COLLECT POEM BOOKS ON WEDNESDAY!
