Homework & FIELD TRIP

Tonight’s Homework:

Read from reading bag 10-15 minutes

Read sight words on ring, new word: “she”

Handwriting: sight word she, trace and try on your own– don’t forget name and number on every paper, even homework!  This NEEDS to become a habit!

Math bag: practice numbers and shapes

FIELD TRIP permission slips and money are due tomorrow for children to go to Apple Charlies Apple Orchard on Friday.  More parents are welcome to attend but will need to drive separate as the bus only had space for the first 4 parents and myself.

Homework 10/18/13

It was a short week, so I did not send home weekly behavior charts and a newsletter but please look for those next Friday.

This weekend’s homework:

Read from reading bag and practice sight words,

Math bag activities, number cards and shapes.  (The new Yellow sheet added today is a reference for mathematical thinking linked to common core.)]

Cards and directions for the “at family bat game” are in folders.  We played the game in class so the kids are familiar.  The are eager to “scare” you with the bugs!! AND show you how they can READ the cards! This game can be kept at home.

We’re planning a field trip to the apple orchard on October 25th.  If you are interested in going, please let me know.  Permission slips will go home Monday.  It must be filled out completely and returned by WEDNESDAY!!  The field trip is on Friday.  They will get an apple, a doughnut, and some apple cider so all they need to bring for lunch is a sandwich in a paper bag.  No pop or glass bottles are allowed!

Homework, Notes, & Reminders 10/17/13

Welcome back!  I must say I was pleasantly surprised with how well the students did remembering our morning routine and school expectations today!  Thank you parents for reinforcing our school expectations at home!

Tonight’s homework: Read from reading bag, including new book we made today, I Like My House/Apartment Practice Sight Words: I, like, see, my, the, a, he Handwriting/Math- Number 10, remember to draw 10 items in the box- check your work by writing the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 by each item you draw to make sure you have 10.

Homework and Happy Eid!!

Over break, please have students practice writing their name.  It is VERY important that they can write their name on all their papers.  (It is also helpful if they know their number to write on papers.)

Practice sight words:  I, like, see, my. the, a, he

Practice reading books in reading bag, including new book we made today, Is That A Bat?

Thank you for remember Math Bags on Fridays.  Almost everyone had theirs!!  They got a new activity today for practicing shapes.  Please work on this over break.

This break from school is also a good time to practice the following skills:

1. tying shoes

2. phone number & address

3. counting 0-100, by 1’s

4. letter identification for capital and lowercase letters.

Homework and Math Bags

Tonight’s homework is to practice sight words and read books in reading bag.

Also, practice writing the number 8 and draw 8 items in the box (make sure to count 8! good idea to number items 1-2-3–4-5-6-7-8 to check!

PLEASE BRING MATH BAGS TOMORROW (Friday)!  Students get new items in their math bags on Fridays and very important that they receive this new activity with shapes to practice over vacation.

Reminder- no school Oct. 14, 15, & 16.

Tomorrow there will be PTA Nacho sale after school.

Homework 10/9/2013

Please practice sight words every night. A new word was added today- he.  Read books in reading bag.

Practice writing the number 7 and draw 7 items in the box.  In math bags, use number cards to practice counting 0-20.

Thanks for keeping up with homework nightly and remember to bring folders and reading bags to school everyday.  Math bags need to bee brought only on Fridays so new activities can be added.

 

Homework 10/8/2013

Tonight your child’s homework is to:

Practice their Sight Words: I, like, see, my, me,  a, the, he.

Practice writing the number 6 and drawing 6 items in the box.  For example, 6 circles or 6 flowers, etc.

Read the books in their bookbags, including the new one we made today: I Like My Family.  This week we are working on pointing to the first letter of each word when they are reading books.  If they don’t know the word, the can say the letter.  If they don’t know their letters, they can count the words.  It is very important to work on this concept of one to one as a foundation to reading.

Practice counting and naming numbers with the numbers in their math bag.  Please remember to bring math bags on Fridays as they will get new materials in their bag.

Today began MEAP testing for grades 3-5.  Please remind students of the importance of listening to their teacher and being very quiet in the hallways.  Also, please limit interruptions to the office during this time.

Homework and MATH BAGS 10/2/13

Tonight the students received Math Bags with number cards that you can do at home with these cards to practice counting and ordering numbers.  Math Bags can stay at home or in backpacks, on Fridays I will collect them to put new games so PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BRING EACH FRIDAY!  Reading bags and homework folders should be brought to school EVERYDAY.

In the folders, students have math handwriting practice for the number 3 and should draw 3 items in the box.

Papers in the keep at home side of the folder should be taken out and kept at home so folders can stay neat.  Thank you for your help with this.

Homework 10/1/13 and Important Reminders!

Tonight’s homework is to practice reading and writing a new sight word, a.  This word was added to their sight word note card ring and should be practiced every night.  They need to also practiced writing the word a on the handwriting practice paper.

In folders, 2 VERY IMPORTANT papers went home today, they are stapled together and both MUST BE SIGNED and RETURNED TOMORROW (WED. 10/2).

Last important reminder is that tomorrow is late start and count day! Please be here on time (9:35)!!!  Breakfast will be at 9:00 and school will start at 9:35.

Tomorrow, 10-2-13, Wednesday, is also COUNT DAY!!  It is extremely important your child comes to school tomorrow as the amount of money we get to help us educate your child is based on how many kids show up tomorrow for school!!

Please keep reading every night (10-15 minutes) from your reading bags!

Homework 9/30/13

Tonight’s homework is to practice writing their name on the handwriting practice sheet.

Read books in reading bag.  The paper books they should be able to read and clap the words.  The other books are for practicing reading the pictures.  Continue reading sight words nightly.

For math, practice counting from 0-20 (Today was our 20th day of school!) using small objects, such as Cheerios, buttons, legos, etc.

THIS WEDNESDAY, 10-2-13, IS A LATE START DAY!!  BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED AT 9:00 AND SCHOOL WILL START AT 9:35!!  IT IS COUNT DAY SO PLEASE BE HERE ON TIME!
