Tonight’s Homework:

1. Handwriting Paper, letter sound Ss… please practice name on top! first and last!!!  draw a picture that starts with Ss on the top of the page, such as sun, sock, snow, etc.

2. READING BAGS- like folders– these bags with be sent home EVERYDAY and need to be returned EVERYDAY.  Practice sight word, I and letters and sounds on ABC chart. We added a BOOK for letter Ss today.  They are VERY excited to show you how they can READ it all by themselves! 🙂

Remember you can play lots of “games” with this chart beside pointing at the letters while singing the ABC song.  For example, try letters out of order (this is how they will be tested)… “where is the P.”  “What starts with a P?” (pig) “Can you think of anything else that starts with a /p/ sound?” (pink, panda, etc.) We will continue to practice our letters and sounds with this song each day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvPo7aEQMxg.  If link does not work, go to YouTube and type in: ABC Sound Clues with Who Let the Letters Out by Dr. Jean.  I told them this song can even be played on most phones if they cannot do it on a computer.  They are VERY excited to show you this song and the “movements” we learned with it!!  If you reinforce this practice at home, it will help them in school!!  Please take the time to help you child with this!!!!  I took a video of them singing the song today and will post tomorrow!

Homework & Reminders 9/8/14

Tonight’s Homework:

1. This week we will continue to work on writing first and last names on handwriting paper.  Please help students form letters correctly (they should START at the Dot).

2. READING BAGS- like folders– these bags with be sent home EVERYDAY and need to be returned EVERYDAY.  We did great with this today!!!! They have a new item in their bags from today.  It is a small zip-lock bag with their name on it.  Inside the bag is a card with the word “I.”  This is their first sight word to practice at home.  Sight words are words that they should know right away without even thinking about it (memorize).  We will add a new word each work to this bag so please practice each night and return the bag inside their reading bag EACH DAY.

They still should keep their ABC chart to practice their letters and sounds in their bag as well.
