NWEA Testing

Kindergarten will not be testing until mid-October.  Testing will be done on computers so some mouse skills are needed.  Please check out the links below.  If you have a desktop and your child can practice with the mouse, it will work best.  If you have a tablet or smartphone, it will work as well; however, testing will be down on desktop computers so that would be the best practice.

Homework & Reminders 9/29/14

Tonight’s Homework:

1.  Folder– Letter Tt handwriting page, please draw a picture or pictures of items that start with Tt, such as tiger, tape, teeth, etc.

2. Reading bag– please do activities for 15 minutes, such as letters/sounds, sight words (new card this week LIKE), and paper books (new book today I see my self).

3. Math Bags- please practice one-to-one counting the cubes to 20.  Please try to log on to the everydaymathonline.com  website to play math games.  A few people said that they had trouble with playing the games (we are looking into that).  Let me know if you have any trouble loging on.

***THESE 3 things need to come to school EVERYDAY and will be sent home everyday!  Math bags will have new activities every week or so (not everyday). ***

I am looking for a parent volunteer to help with adding math bag activities to come in on Thursday from 10-11, please let me know if you are interested!! THANK YOU!

Homework & Reminders 9/26/14

Tonight’s Homework:

1. Handwriting practice for sight words:   I   see    my

2. Reading Bags- practice for  15 minutes activities, such as letters/sounds chart, sight word cards (I, see, my), and paper books (NEW BOOK I SEE MY FRIENDS)

3. NEW & EXCITING MATH BAGS!!!! please pratcie counting with cube locks to 20 (here is a link to a song with movements we have been doing in class (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-rg7EIt1x4) On the front of their math bags, is their student log in and password to our math website (please follow directions on blue paper and let me know if you have any trouble logging onto the sit.) THANK YOU!  They are excited to show you the games we played in plays today, Top it and Monster Squeeze!

Reminders:

Please send in class snacks (enough for 25) if you have not yet done so for September.

NWEA Testing will start Monday for upper grades, Kindergarten will not be testing until mid-October.  We will let you know the exact date as it gets closer.

Homework & Reminders 9/25/14

Tonight’s Homework:

1. Practice writing names, we are still having trouble writing names on ALL school papers and homework assignments so PLEASE continue to practice with your child.  If needed, hand over hand, is good practice.  Better to practice the right way than the wrong!

2. READING BAG activities for 15 minutes, practice letters/sounds (out of ORDER), read paper books (new one from today!) and letter books.

Reminders:

Tomorrow is popcorn and pizza sales!!! Popcorn is 50 cents a bag and will be collected at 9am, pizza is $1 and will be after school so please only send in popcorn money as there was confusion last week if money was for popcorn or pizza!

Tonight’s Homework:

1. Handwriting practice for letter Rr.  Draw a picture of something that starts with R, such as rabbit, rope, rake.

2. Reading bags for 15 minutes, they have a new book to read to you!! It is called I See Dinosaurs.  Please help your child point to the words as they read like we practiced in class.

Reminders:

PTA membership drive continues till October 1.  $8 to have a membership!

Friday there will be popcorn and pizza sale.

***Please remember to send in snacks, we had apples yesterday and the kids were so excited for fruit!!!

Homework and Reminders 9/17/14

Tonight’s Homework:

1. Connect the  dotted lines to make a picture (front and back!)  You can do with crayon or marker to color the picture if you would like!  This will help students make straight lines and curves to help strengthen their fingers for handwriting!

2. Reading Bag, practice letters and sounds on ABC chart (every night!) practice paper book (letter Ss, new letter Mm and I book), and practice word cards (I and see).  Please help your child get into the routine of reading at home for 15 minutes each night, THANK YOU!

Reminders

1. A pink paper went home from the PTA yesterday.  The membership drive is continuing ALL WEEK and they will give the class with the most member an ICE CREAM PARTY!! Membership is $8 per child and helps us buy needed supplies for the whole school year, please support OAKMAN PTA and join (no volunteering needed!) WE WILL BE COLLECTING PAPERS and MONEY ALL WEEK!

2. Tomorrow is OPEN HOUSE- all families are welcome to attend!! Students LOVE showing their family their classroom and where they sit and how they do things at school! I look forward to see you too!!!  It is from 5-6:30pm, drop in anytime that evening! :)
