Tonight;s Homework:

  1. Folder-W bag! Today we talked about the letter Ww and its /w/ sound, like in Wednesday or window.  Please find 3-5 items at home that start with the w sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Tuesday, January 12th).
  2. Reading Bag- NEW DIGRAPH chart– they should practice this daily just like sight words, and books! To practice the digraphs, they should go c-h (ch sound) chick, w-h (wh sound), t-h (th sound) three, s-h (sh sound) sheep, and last p-h (f sound) photograph as we practice during read to self time today.
  3. Math Bag- Many students said they forgot to practice reading their shapes book and naming 2D and 3D shapes they see at home and out and about, for example at the store or park!  So please do this tonight!   Also, play math games– making 10 with red and yellow counters, card game “war” for comparing numbers (which is greater?), and dice game- roll, write, and draw the dots to show the quantity on the dice— Many students said they NEW practice reading their shapes book and naming 2D and 3D shapes they see at home and out and about, for example at the store or park!
  4. POEM BOOK still missing a few that need to be returned so we can add more poems- thank you.

  1. Please send in a January snack for the class to share.  We have 18 students in the class.  We only have a few crackers and will not be able to continue morning and afternoon snack if parents do not send in items.
  2. Mark your calendars for NEXT FRIDAY (January 15th) there will be a Parent Technology Workshop at 2pm in the computer lab.

This Weekend’s Homework:

  1. Folder-shape sort, cut, paste, and sort the shapes… the CHILDREN need to cut out the shapes and practice their cutting, it is THEIR homework not parents 🙂

  1. TONIGHT, December 17th is HOLIDAY MOVIE NIGHT at 4PM in the GYM ($2.00 to enter and you get popcorn).
  2. TOMORROW we will have a class party beginning at 1:45.  Please see the sign up sheet posted in the hallway for items needed for the party.  If you would like to help set up, please come at 1:15.  Thank you!!!
  3. TOMORROW students may wear their pajamas to school and bring a pillow and blanket to watch the POLAR EXPRESS with their kindergarten friends.
