NWEA TESTING IS THIS WEEK:

Today (Tuesday) we did a practice reading session.

TOMORROW- LATE START Wednesday, January 20th at 9:45 will be Reading.

Thursday, January 21st will be MATH at 9:00am

Friday, January 22nd we will finish testing if needed.

The NWEA test is a VERY important piece of data that helps us determine if your child is on track and ready for 1st grade (along with other pieces of information, such as DRA, math checklists, various performance tasks, etc.)

It also allows us to see areas of strengths and weaknesses.  This allows us to focus instruction and provide challenging lessons at their level.

As discussed at parent teacher conferences in the fall, each student has a growth goal for this test.  We will be sending a NWEA report home with their report card to show you how they did and if the met their goal.

Thank you for your support to help each child do their BEST on this important TEST!

***Please make sure your child gets a good night sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and comes to school with a positive attitude!!***

  3. Math Bag- shapes book and math games.
  4. Social Studies Timeline Project- As part of the Math and Social Studies curriculum, we have been talking about how people use a timeline to shown events over time.  As part of the Social Studies curriculum, it is expected that each child completes a timeline of their life to show the past present, and future.    Please use the attached construction paper with the template with started in class.  Please use a photograph or picture in the box and include a sentence explaining what is going on in the picture using the sentence stems

    “In the past, I was___________.”

    “In the present, I am____________.”

    “In the future, I will_________.”

Please have your child practice sharing their timeline at home so they are prepared to share with the class.  We are working on talking in complete sentence so your child will be expected to read (say) all 3 sentences on their paper on their own.

Thank you for your assistance with this project.  Your child will need your help but please allow them to do as much as possible (they should do the cutting, gluing, and WRITING!)  They aslo need to practice speaking for sharing their project.
