Homework & Reminders 6–17

Tonight’s Homework:

  1. Folder- sign behavior calendar ****Folders are the only thing that need to be returned in backpacks on Monday,   PLEASE take out all papers and books that were sent home today.  DO NOT THROW AWAY!! They have a very nice BLUE NOTEBOOK that will be a great tool for working on writing stories and drawing pictures with detail this summer!  Doing a page a day with a sentence/story would be a great way to keep their skills sharp over the summer!!
  2. If you got a note saying your child was missing a book, please LOOK to find it or send in $5.00 to pay for the book—thank you.

 

Reminders:

We will have a Kindergarten Celebration on Thursday, June 15th at 2pm… this will be a classroom party celebration with songs, sharing of writing from the year, and cupcakes!!  Students will get caps to wear when they get their certificates!!  It will last till dismissal so PLEASE plan to attend this special event!!

School Reminders!

Thursday:  Was your child in The Talent Show?  DVDs are for sale in the office with Ms. Amged or in Mrs. Dakroub’s office. They are $10 each

Friday: Summer Workbooks are available for purchase from the office at $12 each. First come first serve

MONDAY 6-12: CORE VALUE ASSEMBLY FOR March, April and May Students of the Month, Bucketfillers, Best Effort, Math Masters and NWEA recipients. Ask the teacher if your child is to be honored.  Pre K to 2 will have their assembly at 1:15 and 3 to 5 will have their assembly at 1:50 pm 

Friday 6-16  Last day of school is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 11;45.  5th grade promotion begins at 10:15 am in the gym.

In order to maintain and strengthen your child’s skills in language arts and math, and to prevent  the loss of learning during summer break, we are providing below the online links our students are familiar with.  We will also provide practice workbooks sold by the school on a first come first serve basis. They will be available for grades K-5 in the office and can be purchased for $12 each.

It is important your child continues to read and write on a daily basis throughout the summer. They should use the resources provided here to ensure their readiness for the upcoming  school year and the first round of NWEA testing in September.

***First log out of previous users Google account ***

Then:

  1.   Go to the internet. Go to Google
  2.   Type in the Google box “dearbornschools.org
  3.   Click on the top right tab “Resources”
  4.   The tab drops and click on “For Students”
  5.   Go down to the far left side of screen and click on the big blue box that says “CLEVER”
  6.   Put in the child’s entire student number like this ***********@deabornschools.org for the first time you sign in. You can say to your child “put in your blue number” like the teacher does.
  7.   The password is the birthday. The year is first (4 digits), then the month (two digits), then the date (two digits) ALL TOGETHER with no slashes or spaces.

You can say to your child “put in your black number” like on your reading bag.

Example: 20100922

Math Bag- practice counting to 120 by 10’s and 1’s using your chart and doing movement—  ***A ZIP LOCK BAG WAS SENT HOME YESTERDAY WITH READING AND MATH MATERIAL FOR STUDENTS TO KEEP AND USE OVER THIS SUMMER!!!  work especially on sight word cards, use the NEW BLUE BOOKMARK when reading books for ways “To help myself read I can:”, AND use 120 math chart to practice counting to 120 by 1s, 5’s and 10s— ALSO CHECK OUT JACK HARTMAN YOUTUBE SONGS to practice with movement!
  4. Spelling Notebook— write words in a sentence and do a practice test!

  2. Reading Bag- practice new sight words: “green” and “jump”—I WILL FINISH COLLECTING BOOKS TOMORROW!  TOMORROW I WILL SEND A NOTE HOME WITH STUDENTS MISSING BOOKS!!  You MUST either return the book or pay for lost books.
  3. DO NOT LEAVE IN BACKPACKS!! Take out and save!!!!!!!!

  2. Reading Bag- practice new sight words: “of” and “good”—read your leveled books in your bag, make sure they are ALL in your bag, will start collecting next week and it is $5.00 for EACH missing book!
  3. Math Bag- math workbook family letter page 209 and activity on 210 (really good and EASY activity!!!)   PRACTICE COUNTING OUTSIDE, make it a game!
  4. Spelling Notebook— write your spelling words in a sentence AND do a practice test ***Spelling Test is TOMORROW
