Three Ways to Read a Book
Hello Families!
Today we practiced the 3 ways to read a book.
We can…
- Read the Pictures
- Read the Words
- Retell the Story
First we practiced finding the front of the book to know where to begin.
Then we practiced using the illustrations to “read the pictures” as we made up the story.
We also listened a familiar story as I read the words.
After this, we practiced retelling the familiar story together.
Please use a book at home to practice the 3 ways to read a book with your child!
I am also sending home reading bags today. Inside you will find name practice homework to be done daily. I included directions inside the bag too. This should be done for 20 minutes.
Math bags were sent home as well… please use counting cubes to practice counting to 20 and touching each cube as your child counts them. Use the number chart to practice counting to 120! Touch each number as you say them… students should be able to count to 25 by the end of the first marking so make sure to practice for 10 minutes each night!
The reading bag and math bag and their contents comes back to school everyday! 🙂
Please remember Open House is Thursday 6:00 to 7:30 🙂
Thank you for all you do!

Coin Drive For Hurricane Victims
Oakman Lions
Helping Hurricane Victims…
One Coin at a Time
Let’s work together to show we care!
Bring in your coins or more! A little will go a long way to help those affected by the recent hurricanes. We will send every cent we raise to the American Red Cross!
Every class will begin collecting coins on Wednesday, September 13th through Friday, September 22nd!
Our goal is to raise $500.00! Go Lions! We can do it! And…you are encouraged to write a letter or draw a picture to encourage the children impacted by these hurricanes.
Reach out with kindness…. Be a helping hand!
