Homework & Reminders 10-12-17

1. Folder— sign behavior calendar FOR OCTOBER! sight word: “a” paper and RETELLING Homework— parents must sign that they did this (see previous blog post for details)

Letter Oo bag! LAST CHANCE TOMORROW- this is part of their speaking and listening/phonics GRADE!

(Green Letter–Kindergarten Reading at Home Plan)****THERE IS A GRAPH TO BE COMPLETED EACH DAY ON THE BACK OF THE LETTER!!!****

2. Reading Bag-Reading bag, work on name puzzle, ABC chart (identifying letters and sounds–try out of order!), each child has 5 NEW books to practice “reading the pictures” (you can read the words for the to practice listening to reading).   All students also have gotten a black and white paper book from their READING GROUP… practice pointing to each word and READING THE WORDS in this book—they should be able to do it mostly on their own– please check in and monitor so they are practicing correctly!  Practice NEW sight word “a—-A-—a!!!”  See if they can find this new sight word in their books!

3. Math Bag- using number chart to practice counting and number recognition, use counting cubes to work on one-to-one with counting.  NEW!!! students made a “I can Make Ten” book that they can practice reading and making the numbers to match the ten frames with their fingers, See example below

This Friday (October 13) is a half day for ALL students- pick up time will be 11:45 (no lunch) in the classrooms.

Letter Oo bag!

Today we talked about the letter Oo and its /o/ sound, like in octopus, ocean, octagon etc. Please find 3-5 items at home that start with the o sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Thursday, October 12th).  Thank you!

We are talking about families in Social Studies so please send in a family photo (just printing from the computer is fine!).  I only have 5 families on our board 🙁

Your child has a Read at Home Plan that will be part of their homework routine each day. Please read/listen to your child read for 15 minutes everyday. Please use the graph on the back of this letter to help your child color the number of books read each night. There will be a special reward for the child with the most books read at the end of the week. I will check this graph numerous times throughout the week. This is an expectation that will continue throughout the rest of the school year!
