1. Folder— sign behavior calendar FOR OCTOBER! Sight Word Like Paper
2. Reading Bag-Practice ALL 7 sight word cards including NEW word “like”– All students also have gotten a black and white paper book from their READING GROUP… practice pointing to each word and READING THE WORDS in this book—they should be able to do it mostly on their own– please check in and monitor so they are practicing correctly!
3. Math Bag- using number chart to practice counting and number recognition, use counting cubes to work on one-to-one with counting. NEW!!! students made a “I can Make Ten” book that they can practice reading and making the numbers.
Reminders:
TOMORROW (October 25) there will be a kindergarten parent meeting in the classroom at 2:30. It will last until dismissal. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend! Parents will be given a MATH WORKBOOK for their child ONLY IF they are at this important meeting!!!

One of the arguments for year-round schooling is that children will have better knowledge retention versus having too much of a mental break in the summer. Letter Hh bag!
Today we talked about the letter Hh and its /h/ sound, like in heart, horse, hot etc. Please find 3-5 items at home that start with the h sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Tuesday, October 24th). Thank you!

Thank you for your generous donations to the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive–Oakman school was about to give over $400.00 to this worthy cause. This weekend there will also be pumpkins for sale at the Outer Drive Firehouse ($5.00 a pumpkin)- all proceeds go to the BURN DRIVE.

1. Folder— sign behavior calendar FOR OCTOBER! Have your child practice reading their 3 goals to you in the form of “I can….” statements. I met with each student and they picked a behavior, math, and reading goal to work on…. Tomorrow they will be making A VIDEO RECORDING reading their goal so they need to practice tonight!

Reading Bag-Practice ALL 5 sight word cards including NEW word “I”- See if they can find this new sight word in their books! work on name puzzle, ABC chart (identifying letters and sounds–try out of order!), each child has 5 NEW books to practice “reading the pictures” (you can read the words for the to practice listening to reading). All students also have gotten a black and white paper book from their READING GROUP… practice pointing to each word and READING THE WORDS in this book—they should be able to do it mostly on their own– please check in and monitor so they are practicing correctly!

TOMORROW the fire fighters are coming so PLEASE WEAR RED TO SUPPORT THEM!!! We are collecting $1.00 donations for the BURN DRIVE!! The firefighters will be here on Friday to talk to us about fire safety and Oakman would like to make a donation to them so please send in $1.00 with your child!
