Jump Rope for the Heart Fundraiser
We have 1 week left for raising money for Jump Rope for Heart. Students need to turn in their envelope of money by Valentine’s Day (Next Tuesday).
Currently our school is at $450 and our goal is $1,200.

***Practice ALL 27 sight word cards including NEW word “on.” Have your child look for this word in books and talk to them about how to use it properly in a sentence. Have them use the word in a sentence they come up with!
3. Math Bag- Practice using 100 chart to count to 100 by 1’s, 5’s, and 10’s.

Valentine’s Day—Wednesday, February 14th
We will have a class party on Wednesday, February 14th from 9am to 12 noon. We will be doing some valentine’s math with candy hearts (graphing) and making a craft in the morning. We will have a special PIZZA PARTY lunch and snack at 11:15 followed by passing out valentine’s cards. PARENT ARE INVITED TO COME! If you would like your child to pass out valentine’s, Please send in 16 valentine cards/treats signed by your child (Leave to the TO part BLANK.) Please send in $5.00 for the party supplies by Monday, February 12th. This will cover cost of the pizza, craft supplies, juice, and snacks.

th WORD bag! *This is our LAST phonics bag so make sure you bring yours to share!!!
Today we talked about WORDS that have a th sound like, Thursday, thumb, thermos, teeth, cloth etc. Please find 3-5 items at home that have the th sound in the WORD and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Tuesday, February 6th). Thank you!

#1 Reading Group Books—fill out READING LOG for NEW book! Students have a log in their reading bags! STUDENTS GOT A NEW BOOK TODAY AND SHOULD BE BACK ON TRACK GETTING A NEW BOOK EACH DAY !
#2 Practice ALL 27 sight word cards including NEW word “on.” Have your child look for this word in books and talk to them about how to use it properly in a sentence (for a Girl). Have them use the word in a sentence they come up with! Practice the sight word she tonight for homework.
3. Math Bag- Math Workbook Units 3 and 4 need to be completed before our February Break.– Please continue doing a page each night! This is also GOOD PRACTICE FOR NWEA MATH!!!

- Monday: Rainbow Spelling! ****please complete tonight if did not do yesterday!
- Write each spelling word in pencil. Now use a crayon to trace each word in that color. Pick another color and repeat.Please sign your name at the top of the spelling page used after student has completed ALL TASKS!
Reminders:
REPORT CARDS and NWEA Reports were sent home today. Please take papers out and keep, sign and return the ENVELOPE!
On Wednesday, we will have a celebration of success assembly. Kindergarten- 2nd grade will be at 2:15. Please come support all our students!

#2 Practice ALL 27 sight word cards including NEW word “on.” Have your child look for this word in books and talk to them about how to use it properly in a sentence. **Have them use the word in a sentence then WRITE the sentence! We are working HARD on writing sentences using our sight words and s—t—e—c—h—-i—-n—g words we don’t know and writing the sounds we hear when we say it slow.

Spelling TEST Tomorrow!!!
Kindergarten Spelling
This week marks the beginning of the second semester. As part of the Dearborn Public Schools English Language Arts Program, we will now begin administering spelling tests each Friday. The spelling test will include 3 high frequency words we have been working on as well as 2 words with a specific spelling pattern. For example, this week’s words will be from the –at family. Students will be given 2 words from the –at family to study during the week. An additional 2 words from the –at family will be tested on Friday to see if the students demonstrate an understanding of the specific spelling pattern. For this week, the 2 additional words will be from the –at family. Students will be given several opportunities to practice the words at school; however, it is important that they practice at home each night as well. We know this is new for the kids and right now we are focusing on the process not just the test results.
