Homework and Reminders 12-3-19

Homework— Some students are bring home in their reading bags a story map to complete on their reading group books, others are being sent home a letter ID game— both assignments will be due on Thursday, December 5th!

**Tomorrow is picture re-take day. Students will only have their picture taken if they turn in the form FIRST THING IN THE MORNING- see online or the office for order forms!

  1. Oakman Folder- sign and return behavior calendar for DECEMBER!

2. Reading bag- ***25 TOTAL***NEW SIGHT WORDS ARE IN THEIR BAGS— I, like, the, see, we,  go, can, she, a, atis, was, willhe, has, onin, and, you,  up, look, it, my, to, and dog. Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS!* And work on using them correctly when speaking in COMPLETE SENTENCES for example: He (when talking about a boy) vs. She (when talking about a girl). And “on” like the book is “on the table.” ***BEGIN WORKING ON SPELLING THESE WORDS AS THESE WILL BE SOME OF OUR FIRST SPELLING WORDS!!!!!!!!!

3. READING GROUP BAG — please re-read BOOKS and fill in reading logs each day!!! Read and Re-read for fluency books to be ready to WRITE about our reading– work on letter sounds!!! (Also can you login code and password to read/listen to more books on the computer)

Please fill in log each day!!! Please use the pointer finger to put their finger under the first letter of each word as they read. Please read the book at least 3 times and sign the paper inside their bags so I know they did their job! Please send the reading bag back to school each day. ***IF YOU HAVE FLUENCY DOWN, PARENTS PLEASE EXTEND the reading by asking questions such as:

  • Find the WORD “the” on this page.
  • What LETTER do you see at the beginning of the WORD?
  • What LETTER do you see at the end of the WORD?
  • After reading, can you RETELL what happened?? What happened in the beginning, middle, and end?
  • Over the Thanksgiving break fill out a Story Map which will be in their reading bag with their books. Please return with the signed log in their reading bags for reading groups.

4. Math Homework-MODULE 3 Lesson 2 on page 205 (homework helper is on page 203). —They are bringing home a piece of white string in a small zip lock bag that should be sticking out of their green homework book :)— if it is lost, the string we 12 inches (1 foot in length).

**Poetry books were sent home yesterday enjoy NEW poem, “Quack, Quack, Quack”– we talked a lot to day about quotation marks (the marks that show when someone is talking).— will collect poem books tomorrow!

Read, Read, Read….

***Make sure all 4 things come back to school in backpacks!!! *** including poem books… NEW library books are coming home today. These are great books for LISTENING TO READING (parent or older sibling to read to student) and ASK the student the 6 questions to see if they understand the story.
