1. Oakman Folder- sign Behavior calendar for FEBRUARY!!! Please send in a class snack for the month– we now have 22 students (A new student started today! Welcome Zakariya! 🙂 Please remember to start working on/thinking about AT HOME POSTER PROJECT AND PRESENTATION — Due on Tuesday, February 11th !!! Please use poster/foam board for these so we can display in the hallway! Please do not send in until Tuesday, FEBRUARY 11th so you can practice the presentation part and be as prepared as possible!!! (NEXT TUESDAY!!! note error from last post- opps!)

1. Reading bag- 35 TOTAL NEW SIGHT WORDS ARE IN THEIR BAGS one, little, play, me, here, am, do, not, who, with— I, like, the, see, we, go, can, she, a, at, is, was, will, he, has, on, in, and, you, up, look, it, my, to, and dog. Practice each night to MEMORIZE THESE WORDS!* Practice spelling the words if your child can read them. Spelling will start next week!! (A letter will be sent home with words on Monday!!!)
2. READING GROUP BAG — EVERYONE GOT A NEW READING BOOK TODAY! READ everyday and focus on fluency and comprehension. *If your child did not get a new book, focus on RETELLING— new books will not be given everyday so more focus can be on comprehension. To move UP reading levels students need to be able to read the words accurately and COMPREHEND (understand what I read). After reading books, please practice using the handout for the “retelling rope” see picture below!! (Don’t forget to ask your child– what was your favorite part of the story and WHY? or what did this story remind you of?)

4. NEW Math Homework MODULE 4 Book— homework helper is on page 3 and homework is on page 5.

5. Spelling Notebook:

• Spelling words are glued into your child’s spelling notebook. We will have our test on Thursday, February 6, since we have no school on Friday, February 7, 2020.
• Tonight’s homework is RAINBOW WORDS—

• Monday: Rainbow Spelling!
  • Write each spelling word in pencil. Now use a crayon to trace each word in that color. Pick another color and repeat.

6. POEM BOOKS ARE BACK!!!!!!!! Please read/review old poems. No new one this week, just review. A NEW POEM will be added next week.

7. LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE TOMORROW SO THAT YOU CAN CHECK OUT A NEW BOOK FOR THE WEEK!!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Being a successful football player takes teamwork, discipline, practice, hard work, goal-setting and time management. Football players and students have many of these important qualities in common. Students; continue to work hard and keep in mind that your current experiences and choices are paving the way for future success and wins!

Today was GROUNDHOG DAY, a famous day where a groundhog predicts the weather. This year the groundhog did not see its shadow, which means we are likely to have an EARLY SPRING!!
