Students received reading bags today! They are very excited for their first homework assignment! They are to practice our 1st daily 5 activity, Read to Self.  Their bags have 4 books and a baggie with their first sight word, I.

We have discussed 3 ways to read a book: 1. Read the pictures, 2. Read the words, and 3. Retell a story you know well. At this point, most students are reading the pictures, which is perfectly ok.  We have talked about where the front and back of the book is and how we read from left to right (even pictures!)

Reading bags, like homework folders, should be brought back to school- with all books and sight words cards- EVERYDAY! They have been doing great with folders and expect them with do just as well remembering to bring their reading bags everyday! Parents, thank you in your help with this too!
