Co-Teaching

We have started a new chapter in our class.  All students are going to a general education class daily for math.  I have seen some positive things happening!

Today in class one if my 4th graders was participating in the class discussion.

My 3rd graders are becoming more independent getting around the school.math

All my students feel accepted in their new environment.

We will continue to do this throughout this school year.  Please let me know your thoughts about this cool experience as you talk with your child after school about their day.

Terrific Community Trip!

This morning we left Nowlin at 9:30 and went to Petco.  We saw so many things there.  Students had a chance to watch 2 dogs being groomed.  We also saw 1 cat available for adoption.  In the small animal area we saw ferrets, hamsters, guinea pigs and mice.  We saw parakeets and parrots too!

Each group was able to pick out 2-3 fish to add to our classroom tank.  It was a very fun life experience.  I am so proud of all the studnets.  They behave so well and work together nicely.

This is a video of our fish take with all the fish we bought today.

It was a very worth while experience.  Even if you don’t have pets in your home, visiting a store like Petco gives children exposure to domestic animals.

Great Behavior Celebration!

Today was our first PBIS reward celebration.  All students earned the right join the group in watching a movie.  We watched a 20 minute video titled Mutant Pumpkins.  It was a fun way to spend a little time this afternoon.

Today was also our cooking, life skills, day.  We made a popcorn trail mix to enjoy while watching our movie.  Students counted by 1s, 3s, and 5s as we added nuts, rasins and chocolate chips to the popcorn we made in a whirley pop! It was very exciting to use our sense of smell and hearing as we listened and smelled the popcorn cook.imgres
