A hunt through Meijer!

All students were placed in a group and had to find 8 different things inside meijer.  Some of them even managed to get to the bakery for a free cookie!

We also bought a new fish for our classroom tank.  It is a special fish to help keep the tank clean!  Students were really watching as the Meijer employee retrieved the fish for us.  IMG_6736

The students get so much out of these Community trips.  I am very thankful we have the chance to go on them!

OUR SCHOOL GOAL: To raise $250.00 for adoption fees

HOW: Students bring in dollars to donate!

DATES: Monday, March 14th-Wednesday, March 23rd

EXPLANATION:

2 Categories:

  • Mrs. Randall, Mrs. Slack, K, 1st, and 2nd (excluding Parana’s class): Compete with each other for the MOST dollars in their boxes
  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade (including Parana’s full class):  Compete for the LEAST amount in their boxes!!

WHAT???? LEAST AMOUNT? :)

Yes! Each class will collect their dollars in the morning and then put them in another classes’ box so the box fills up with dollars. This takes strategy. Everyday at lunch, Ms. Shaw will pick up the boxes and graph the dollars collected on the front hallway bulletin board. Our class will check the  board to see who has the least amount of money,  then we will stuff that box with dollars!

Winners: The 2 classes that win will receive 15 minutes extra recess with Ms. Shaw!

A box can be found in our classroom!

March is reading at the LIBRARY!

We had another successful trip to the library today.  After some time exploring…

all the students gathered in the tree house to listen to “Splish, Splash Splat”.

After the story we went back to a table and used some stickers the librarian gave us of eyeballs to create a picture of a character from this story or from a favorite story.

ALL of the students really enjoy the library.  They are very accommodating and there is so much there for the students to read and explore.  Hopefully you can take them there one day and they can get a library card.  All of  my students would feel very proud with their own card and the ability to check out any book they want!

You can win an ADAPTED Bike!!!

Today I sent home this same form.  Please look at it!  It will take some work, but your child can win a bike!
We are happy to help if you need it.  Just let us know.  I am also going to put a link to this giveaway under links so you can go there yourself.

How the Great Bike Giveaway Works

The Great Bike Giveaway will be hosted on greatbikegiveaway.com. Each type of adaptive bike will have its own dedicated contest page. Visitors are then able to view the different types of adaptive bikes available, choose which bike will best fit their child’s needs, and enter the appropriate contest. (Participants may only enter to win one bike).

Joining the Contest (new for 2016)

Only the first 600 registrants to enter will be part of the Great Bike Giveaway. Our goal is that all 600 participantsshould receive an adaptive bike. To enter the contest you will need to complete the following requirements:

  1. Be one of the first 600 registrants to complete the registration form. The form will ask you to select your bike, submit contact information, provide a high resolution picture and include text describing why your child needs a bike.
  2. Recruit 10 ambassadors to help you:
    1. Spread the word about the Great Bike Giveaway.
    2. Get donations to add more bikes into the contest.
    3. Get votes to help your child win a bike outright.

Once you complete the above requirements, you can get ready for the Great Bike Giveaway

The Great Bike Giveaway is an UNContest

Our real goal is that we raise enough money so that all 600 participants receive an adaptive bike, In the event that not enough funds are raised, we will have a contest format to determine which participants receive an adaptive bike.

Donations

Each bike contest begins with two bikes that are to be given away. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will go towards adding more bikes to the Great Bike Giveaway. This increases the chances of each child entered that has been entered into the contest. Our hope is that we receive enough donations to give away 600 bikes.

2 Ways to Win

In the event that we are unable to give away bikes to all 600 participants there will be two ways entrants can win a bike.

Most Votes

One bike in each contest will be given away to the entry with the most votes. Votes are received from friends and family clicking the “vote button” on your personal page.

Bike Raffle

All the remaining bikes will be placed in a drawing. To be eligible for the drawing, each submission must have 100 votes or more. By asking people for votes, participants will draw more visitors to the Great Bike Giveaway Contest and increase the amount of donations. This in-turn will add more bikes to the raffles and give more children with special needs a chance to win a special bike.

Winning

At the close of the contest, the entry with the most nominations in each bike contest will win a bike. A drawing will be held to determine the winners of the remaining adaptive bikes in each contest.

Reading with Mom or Dad IN SCHOOL!

6358753399419239161977355752_love reading

This Thursday, you have a chance to come and experience how your child learns reading skills at school.  If you are able, please join us from 9-10:30, thursday, feb. 11.  Parents will meet in the cafeteria and after a brief introduction come and rotate through our Daily 5 in the classroom.  Students who read in a general education class will be in that setting.  This will be a fun experience that will give you some insight as to how hard your child works throughout the day!

As a working mom and parent of more that one child I understand not being able to be at all school functions!  I will take plenty of pictures and post them here for those who are unable to attend!

These are all games that will help your child increase his/her foundation in mathematics.  Keep the games for one or more nights.  When the game is returned your child can check out another game for you to enjoy as a family.  math board games cp
