Last Week of New Plans!

June 1st- June 5th 2020: Student Continuity of Learning Plan:

  • We are suggesting students have a schedule for the following learning tasks. Students should begin their day with a healthy breakfast and begin on their learning. 
  • Students should be taking lots of breaks. Students should be getting daily activity. Play board games, Go Noodle etc. 
  • As a part of the Student Continuity of Learning Plan that has been provided by the district; we have guidelines that ensure the continuity of learning is provided for all students. 

Language Arts/Reading: 

  • All students will be expected to read each day and write a summary of what they read for the week.  Students can read a book from their home library, read a story on raz kids or readworks. The summary should be 3-5 sentences long. This should be turned in on google classroom. 
  • ReadWorks: All students should be signed up and working on assignments that are assigned on Readworks. There will be one assignment on Readworks this week. This will be due Friday June 5th  2020
  • We will be using our Ready Common Core Book: After you finish please take a picture of the pages and upload them on google classroom. 
  • Figurative Language p.472-473 
  • Revising p.460-461

Writing: Write a response to the following prompt in a google document 

This is your last year of elementary school. What are you most excited or most nervous about when you think of starting middle school?

T-Shirt Orders

T-Shirt orders are due today. I have 21 orders that means that 6 students still haven’t responded. T-Shirts are free so all you have to do is fill out the google form on my google classroom to select your size.

Writing: Fifth Grade End of the year speech. Even though we are not able to be together for our promotion is important to continue with the River Oaks tradition of writing a fifth grade speech. 

It must include the following: 

  • A fun and entertaining beginning 
  • Include details about your time at River Oaks
  • Fun memories about school 
  • A famous quote about the importance of education 

Below are examples of this Fifth Grade speech. One from each classroom will be selected to be shared with the staff and school.

5th Grade T-Shirts

On my google classroom I have posted a google form for students to request what size t-shirt they would like to have to commemorate the end of their journey at River Oaks. You need to fill out the form by Wednesday of this week (May 20th, 2020). The shirts are free thanks to our PTA.

New Turn In

Starting next week I would like to switch from google docs to all students using the materials that were handed out last week. In order for you to turn your work in you will just need to take a picture of your work. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL IT TO ME! I have attached a video below. The first part is for teachers so START AT 1:37 for directions on how to turn in a photo. You can try it out this week but next week you will be turning work in this way. No more google docs next week. Let me know if any questions pop up.
