February 14th is a half day of school, dismissal is at 11:45

Our Valentine’s Day party will be on Thursday, February 14th from 10:30-11:00 am.  If your child wants to bring Valentines, (this is optional) they must have 1 for every student.  Please do not write students names on Valentines.  Our exchange will go a lot faster if names are left blank.  Thank you for understanding and making this a fun activity!  We have 24 students in our class.

River Oaks is preparing for the incoming kindergarteners.  March 26th at 1:30-3:00 pm will be River Oaks Kindergarten Round Up.  More info will be coming in March.  For the 2019-2020 school year, a child who resides in the school district may enroll in kindergarten if the child is at least 5 years of age on September 1, 2019.

Tomorrow we will be celebrating our 100th day of school. Students are encouraged to come dressed like an “old person”. Find an old wig, apron, skirt, or dress, a cane, and a suit or tie to wear.

Mardi Gras 2019 will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 4:30-8:30 pm.  Please see Ms. Sandi for tickets.  There will be food, drinks, auction, and 50/50.  The Education Foundation is a licensed non-profit organization that helps enhance the education that students receive from Dearborn Public Schools through grants to fund technology, equipment, and innovative programs not funded by the schools district’s budget.  Tickets are $25.00 per person.

This morning I had students sign into Zearn which is an online math program that supports Eureka Math. It is fantastic! It breaks down lessons and allows for extra student practice. All students were instructed to glue their Zearn log in information into their planners so they can have access to this. If your child is absent today and you would like their log in information now instead of wait for me to give it to them Monday. Send me a message and I will send it to you. Winterfest 2019

Our 4th annual Winter Festival is set for January 24, 2019.  Tickets will be going on sale soon.  Watch for a flyer to come home by the end of this week.  Due to the number of students this event is only for River Oaks Families.  Sorry, no other relatives may attend this event.

The guidelines to determine if students will go outside for recess or line-up inside for arrival are a combined temperature and wind chill of below 20 degrees.  Therefore, if the weather is below 20 degrees, students will remain inside for recess.  Please remember to always dress appropriately for the weather; students will need coats/jackets, snow pants, boots, hats, scarves, and gloves to ensure their safety and well-being when we have outdoor recess!
