Effective immediately, Dearborn Public Schools will be closing through Monday, April 13. Spring break will be April 6-10. You may enter the building today to get your child’s personal belongings such as extra change of clothes and rest items. Please try to come to pick up items at regular time. We will only be there for the morning, and children may NOT stay today. For updates during this time period, please visit the district website or Facebook page. Again, I will update you with any information as I get it as well. Please stay safe and calm.
I just received an email from the District Emergency Crisis team. Right now there is no plan to close the district. Of course, this can change at any time. We have also been told that we may no longer have visitors in the building. So this will mean that parents can not come in for “March is Reading Month.” or Community Helpers. I will reschedule at a later time. Our field trip has to be put on hold as well. I have faith we will still be going, however I will not be collecting money. The intent of this is not for panic. I just want to let everyone know that the district is using precautions. I will continue to keep you updated as I get news.
We were given permission yesterday to have hand sanitizer in the classroom. Although, we will continue to wash hands with soap and water, we can also use that. If you would like your child to use it, please send it in with your child’s name on it. We would prefer at this point not to share one big bottle. We will keep the sanitizers on a tray, just like we do with water bottles.
Thank you once again for everyone that made sure we had plenty of snack. We need to ask if you are bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to make sure that they are washed. Sometimes it is hard for us to get to do it in the kitchen here. Also if you are bringing in items that require bowls or plates, please bring them in too. We have run out of things to serve in. Again, we appreciate your generosity.
Please remember that field trip money is due this Friday. Let us know one way or another if you are attending.
Friday is also a half day. Your child must be picked up no later than 11:45.

I have decided to extend Community Helpers into April. If you can not present in March, April is also an option.
Tomorrow is the last day to register for preschool next year. If your are enrolling your child in kindergarten next year, a paper will be coming home today to start the online process.
Scholastic Book Club orders are also due tomorrow.
