On October 31, the date of our” Fall Harvest Celebration” we are asking that the children DO NOT have costumes. Most of the school is doing this as well. Some children find it difficult to use the bathroom while wearing a costume, not to mention spills from food, or items that get lost. Instead your child may wear Halloween colors or Fall related clothes. This is not mandatory, so please do not go out and buy something. A good time to wear the costumes with school friends would be at the Monster Mash dance on Friday, October 26. Thanks for your understanding with our no costume policy.
Book Club orders are due today. Thanks to everyone that has ordered so that we may reach our goal this month.
Please return Friday folders. We can not give you an update on your child’s progress if we don’t have them.
Book orders are due tomorrow. Remember if we get enough orders, every child will receive a free book. This also helps our class get free books to build our classroom library.

Today your child will be bringing home a form to join the P.T.A. PLEASE consider taking time to read the form. You will see everything our P.T.A. does for us. You do not necessarily need to volunteer, but your membership is very much appreciated. We have very few preschool parents as members. Our kids benefit as much as other children so please keep that in mind. To those of you who have joined already, please disregard and thank you! You may turn in the form with your money to a teacher.
You will also be getting a form for Howe spirit wear. This is also sponsored by our P.T.A. If you would like to order a shirt for your child or maybe even yourself, these are due on October 19.
This Friday, October 12 is a half day. Please pick your child up promptly by 11:45. DO NOT pack a lunch for Friday.
On Friday, October 26 is the Monster Mash Dance. This is held from 6-8 p.m. This is a fun filled P.T.A. event. There will be concessions, music, games, and goody bags. Children (and parents) are encouraged to dress up for this event. More information to follow.
Wednesday, October 31 is our Fall Harvest Celebration. We are looking for 3 more parents to volunteer to come in from 9-10. You will need to provide a simple craft for 18 children, and to do it with the children. Each child can bring in a treat for each child in our class. There are NO NUT allergies this year. We will also be attending a party in the gym later on in the afternoon, sponsored by Mr. Borg our gym teacher. The children will be playing a lot of fun games.
As you can see, October is a very busy fun filled month!
We are looking forward to the field trip tomorrow. Please remember to pack a lunch. Please make sure that you arrive at least by 10:15. Our tour starts at 10:30 and we do not want anyone to miss the wagon ride to the pumpkin patch.
With the Friday folders going home today, are the Scholastic book club fliers, and forms for picture day. Picture day is Friday, October 19. It is very easy to prepay your package online. If you do not choose to do that you may send in your money that day.

We do appreciate everyone getting to school on time, despite the weather. However, remember parents are NOT allowed in the hallway for security reasons. Plus we are striving to create independent children. The children can put their belongings away unassisted. Every one of them gets their own lunches and backpacks at the end of the day without help. Please say goodbye quickly to your child after you sign them in. Thanks for your understanding.
Our field trip to Debuck’s is this Friday, October 5. Please remember to pack a lunch for yourself and your child. We also need to know if you will just be meeting us at the pumpkin patch or you will be picking up your child at 9:15. Please tell a teacher what your plans are.

Today your child will be bringing home Pizza Hut book it. They will receive these once a month through March. Read to your child everyday of the month. Have your child color in the day. At the end of the month,return to school and your child will receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza. This is a great way to promote reading at home.
