The Thanksgiving Celebration was a success! The kids did a great job with “Turkey Named Bert”. The food was delicious and plentiful. We hope you enjoyed your pumpkin turkey and will be able to use it on your Thanksgiving table. A special thanks to the parents of Julia and Noah. They stepped up at the last minute when Farah’s mom had her daughter get sick. They set up and made it very festive. Thanks to all of you for sharing your food, but especially for sharing your wonderful children daily. This has been such a great year already, and I am truly thankful.
This is going to be a short week, having Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off. Tuesday will be busy since we have an assembly at 9. Later in the afternoon we will be celebrating Ja’Nayah’s birthday with cupcakes.
We are really looking forward to our celebration today! Please DO NOT bring food in until 2. We are asking you go straight to the cafeteria and not stop in the classroom as we are preparing. If you are bringing a dish to pass, make sure you have a serving spoon for it. We are looking forward to a fun day and hope you enjoy the short performance!
Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving celebration. We are looking forward to celebrating in the cafeteria from 2-3. Please bring your dish to the cafeteria at 2. We have no room for storing. We are requesting that all adults meet us in the cafeteria. Your child will greet you when we go down there followed by a short performance. After the performance you will all eat. Come hungry!
Thanks to everyone who brought in pumpkins,including the extra ones. If by chance we end up with extra, they will be used as decoration for our food table at our Thanksgiving celebration.
Today your child will be bringing home a wish list from the book fair. If you would like to purchase books, please send in the money tomorrow. You are also welcome to shop with your child during the book fair. It is open during elementary conferences. Otherwise we will be taking the whole class tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.
Reminder Friday is library day. Please make sure your child returns their book. If you aren’t sure which one they have please ask us.
The Green Team will be having a bake sale this Wednesday after school. The fundraiser will go towards the Monarch butterfly project.
Please remember to have to have your child dress for the weather. We will be going out even when it snows. The rule is that it must be 11 degrees and above. It is good for children to get out and get some fresh air every day.
We will also be greeting you outside in the morning at 8:35 weather permitting. You may leave after you sign your child in. The children are capable of entering the building and putting things in their locker alone. Please do not try to get in the building and help them. We are trying to foster independence.
We have also noticed as the year goes on, there are more people tardy. Please try to be on time. When you are tardy your child is missing important group lessons. It is also a disruption to the other students.
Thank you to everyone who brought in pie-sized pumpkins for our project. Thanks also if you brought in extra. If you did not bring one for your child yet, please do so asap since our project starts Wednesday.
The Book Fair will be held with preview day on Wednesday and purchase day on Thursday. Make-up day is Friday.
Friday is our Thanksgiving Celebration in the cafeteria from 2-3. Thanks to Farah’s mom who will be setting up for this.
Next week there is NO SCHOOL Wednesday 21-Friday 23. This is due to the Thanksgiving break.
On Monday, November 26 we will be celebrating Nash’s birthday with a pizza lunch. Please DO NOT pack lunch for that day. I will try to send out another reminder once the time gets closer.
Please disregard the previous post with the sign up for the book fair. P.T.A. has just informed us that Scholastic has set up the wrong dates. Scholastic has apologized and is giving our school a monetary credit along with helping set up and break down. The dates will be November 14 and 15 with Friday the 16th as a make up day. If you are interested in helping next Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, there will be a new sign up sheet later today. Thanks for your understanding!
