Dates to Remember

Tuesday, March 31 – Wear your pajamas to school and read in your classroom with popcorn! Last chance to turn in reading logs this week. In the evening, K-2 Music Concert at 7pm. Students have been rehearsing and are doing such a great job!

Wednesday, April 1PBIS celebration – students will have an extra recess. If a student had their clip moved to orange or their clip moved to green six times or more they will not be participating in the celebration.

Thursday, April 2 – Mrs. Polgar’s Spring Egg Hunt will be from 2:00 – 2:30 pm. Students will bring 25 plastic eggs with a packaged treat inside to school on April 2. Please make sure you tape the eggs, so they do not come apart during the egg hunt. Also, make sure your child brings a basket or container to collect eggs.

Friday, April 3 – No school – beginning of Spring break.

Spring Break – No school April 3-10.

There will be no spelling test this week. Also, there will be no homework packet this week or over break.

There will be a sub in my classroom Monday morning. I will be attending a district math workshop in the building and I will return in the afternoon.

On Friday, March 27 there was an error on the March is Reading Month calendar. We will celebrate the end of reading month on Tuesday, March 31 the last day of March and not on Friday. So, students will wear pajamas on Tuesday, March 31 instead.

Please turn in reading logs on Friday, March 27.

Monday, March 23 – Wear a hat to school with words to school.

Tuesday, March 24 – Read a joke or a riddle book.

Wednesday, March 25 – Visiting author, Sheer Genius Magic Bookshelf assembly at 10:30 am

Thursday, March 26 – Parent – Teacher conferences 4- 6:40 pm. If you received a conference appointment, please make sure you respond this week  and let me know if you are able to make your appointment.

Friday, March 27 – Reading Celebration! School-wide celebration. Wear your pajamas to school and read in class with popcorn!

Last week to turn reading logs in. A new reading log went home on Friday in your child’s blue folder. Make sure you turn them in this week, we could be the winning class.

Report cards will go home some time this week. Also, book bags will go home this week. I did not send home book bags last week due to assessments for report cards.

Dates to Remember

Monday, March 16  – Leprechaun traps are due. Traps need to be turned in before Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day.

Tuesday, March 17 -St. Patrick’s Day. Understand Wilderness Assembly @ 9:00 am. Kindergarten round-up at 6:30 pm. If you know anyone who will be attending Kindergarten, please let them know about Kindergarten round-up orientation.

Wednesday, March 18 – Mini Martian Marathon training begins at 3:40 – 4:05 after school. You must have completed a Mini Martian Marathon registration form to participate.

Thursday, March 19 – Earth Dome assembly at 9:00am.

Friday, March 20 – Nowlin School Spirit Day. Wear a Nowlin school t-shirt or school colors – blue and white.

Reading logs – Keep reading at home and filling out your weekly reading logs. The more student’s that read get us closer to winning a prize at school. I was happy to see that 15 students in Kindergarten turned in a reading log on Friday.

It’s Dr. Seuss Week in Mrs. Polgar’s Class.

Monday, March 9 – “Green Eggs and Ham” wear something green to school.

Tuesday, March 10 – “If I Ran the Zoo” bring a stuffed animal to school.

Wednesday, March 11 – “Wacky Wednesday” come to school dressed wacky. Wear your clothes inside out or mismatched.

Late start 9:40 a.m.

Thursday, March 12 -” Fox in Socks” wear silly socks to school.

Brainstormer’s Assembly and Spring pictures are taken on Thursday.

Friday, March 13 – “The Cat in the Hat” wear red, white and black day.

Literacy Night – 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Don’t forget to read every night and fill out a reading log for March is Reading Month. The more  reading logs that are turned in on Friday, we have a better chance to winning a class prize at the end of the month. Blue reading logs went home on Friday.

March is Here!

March is Reading Month – Kick-off Assembly, Monday, March 2. A calendar of events and activities was sent home last week for the month of March.

March Family Project – due Monday, March 16. Create a Leprechaun trap to catch a tricky leprechaun. We need to collect Leprechaun traps on Monday, March 16 before St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. Information will go home Monday in blue folder.

Nowlin Spirit Week

Monday, February 23 – Class will make a classroom banner.

Tuesday, February 24 – Mustache Day. Students may wear a funny mustache to school.

Tuesday, February 24Hundred Day Celebration – Mrs. Polgar’s classroom from 10 – 11 am. If you can join us in our celebration we could use some volunteers to help out at stations. Also, your child’s 100 day collection is due.

Wednesday, February 25 – P.J. Day – wear your pajamas to school.

Thursday, February 26 – Wear your favorite sports jersey to school.

Friday, February 27 – Wear your teacher’s favorite color to school. (Mrs. Polgar’s favorite color is blue).

Friday, February 27 – Mrs. Polgar will have a bake sale after school. All profits from the bake sale go to class field trips and classroom materials. So, I need families to get their baking gloves on and bake some goodies or purchase some store bought goodies for the bake sale. The more baked goods we have to sell the more profits we make!

If you did not turn in your green spelling notebook, please turn it in on Monday. Also, do not forget to turn in your blue folder on Monday. Lately, students have been forgetting to turn in their blue folders.

Also, I am in need of supplies – Kleenex and glue sticks. Before break I replenished student’s caddies with new boxes of crayons. So, students will return to the classroom with new crayons. (In Kindergarten there is nothing like a fresh box of crayola crayons!) Thank you for donations that are sent in during the year.

Dates to Remember

Tuesday, February 10 – Math Night 6-7 pm

Wednesday, February 11 – Late start – school begins at 9:40 am

Friday, February 13 – Classroom Valentine’s party will be from 12:30 – 1:30. Please have your child bring their valentine cards to school on Friday for them to distribute at the party. Just have your child write their name on the card where it says, “from.” We have 25 students in our classroom. The valentine mailbox is due on Thursday, February 12. We can use a few extra volunteers to help students distribute cards and help serve a Valentine treat.

February 16-20 No School – Midwinter Break

Tuesday, February 24 – 100th Day party. When students return from winter break we will celebrate 100 days of school. The party will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 am. I will need volunteers for the party to help run stations that children will be rotating through. Please let me know if you can help out at the party – I would appreciate the help.

Tuesday, February 24 – 100 Days Project will be due. A note will go home on Monday with information about our 100 days project.

We have a busy week before break! Last week we made Love Monsters and students wrote an opinion writing piece – who they love and the reason they love that person. Check them out on the bulletin board.They turned out so cute. I have such a loving class!

There will not be a spelling test on Friday, February 6. Students will have extra time to study. The test will be next Friday, February 13.

Tip: When helping your child study for spelling tests practice other word family spelling blends for example; met, set, let, jet, vet. Then you can assess if they have mastered the spelling pattern.
