News for the Week of May 21 – May 25

Dates to Remember:

Monday, May 21 – Students will take the NWEA Math first thing in the morning after attendance/lunch count. Please make sure your child is at school on time. In the afternoon students will see a play Peter and the Wolf in the gym.

Wednesday, May 23 – Greenfield Village field trip. Students will report to school at usual time. Please remember to have your child bring a brown bag lunch and a disposable juice box. We should be leaving between 9:00-9:10 am. If you have signed up to chaperone you will get your group assignment in your child’s blue folder on Monday. Each chaperone should have 2-3 students in a group. Please bring a back-pack or a tote to carry your group’s brown bag lunches when you stop to have lunch. Chaperones can meet at school in the morning and follow us to Greenfield Village or meet us there.

Friday, May 25 – No school.

Monday, May 28 – No school in Observance of Memorial Day.

There will be no spelling test or homework this week due to the short week of school.

I have been testing students in reading during reading group time. Therefore, no book bags have been going home. I will continue testing this week and possibly next week.

Students in my classroom did extremely well on the NWEA reading test last week. Reports will go out after all assessments have been completed. The test required students to listen and read short stories and consider the best answer. We practiced listening to stories and focusing on best answers; What answer makes sense? Listening to passages or re-reading passages again if you do not understand it. I was happy to see a number of students practicing this!!!

Have a great day!
