Kindergarten
Letter of Week – O handwriting/sound review.
Sight Words – look, and
Writing – We will finish up with opinion writing with opinion letters. Next, we will move on to informational writing and learn about informational text features.
Daily Five – CAFE strategies – learn to clap syllables in one to three segments. Respond to questions about a text.
Math – Focus of week in EveryDay math is graphing, 2D shape review, 3D shapes activities, counting and writing by 10’s, teen number review. Every Day counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, 10’s.
Science – Review gravity and student’s will describe the position of an object in relation to other objects around it; using positional words.
Social Studies – Review goods and services and how our family uses goods and services.
First Grade
Spelling Words – beginning “th” words – the, then, there Sight words – two, yellow
We will review “h” brother digraphs (th, sh, ch and wh)
Writing – We will finish up with opinion writing with opinion letters. Next, we will move on to informational writing and learn about informational text features.
Daily Five – CAFE strategies – Blend sounds, stretch and read. Asking questions throughout the reading process.
Math – First graders will take Unit 3 Math Test on Monday, December 2. A study guide went home before Thanksgiving break. Focus of week in EveryDay math is reading a thermometer, recording temperature, learning nonstandard linear measures, reviewing math skills of week. Every Day counting and writing by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, 10’s and reviewing math facts.
Science – First graders weather graph is due on Monday, December 2. Focus on weather unit and comparing daily changes in weather and describing weather changes in relation to the four seasons. Building a weather word wall.
Social Studies – Describing how our families use goods and services in relation to terms producer and consumer.
