Dates to Remember:
Monday, December 12 – Family Holiday project is due. There will be a substitute in the afternoon in my classroom. I have a workshop to attend.
Upcoming Events:
Friday, December 23 – Holiday Party 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Mrs. Polgar’s classroom. Students can wear pajamas to school for our celebration.We need volunteers in the morning to help out with stations. We will be meeting this week to plan the party, so possible donations may be needed for the party. Please let me know, if you are available to help out at the party.
Also, I have changed the date of our movie day – Polar Express. It will be in the afternoon on Friday, December 23.
Holiday Break – students do not attend school from December 24 – Jan 8th. Students will return to school on Monday, January 9th.

Letter of the Week – RrĀ Sight Words – for, go
Math – We will start a unit on geometry – shapes. Students will learn how to compare 2- Dimensional shapes through sorting, drawing shapes. Students will learn how to build a graph and learn how to analyze and compare categories and groups.
Social Studies – We will end our unit on Economics and close with services/goods and trade.
Science – We have begun a unit on Gravity/Physical Science. Students will explore and compare objects that fall to Earth. Why do they fall to Earth? Do they fall to Earth at the same speed?
Writing – We will continue our unit on Informational Writing – Reindeer. Students will write about what they have learned. We have been taking notes/reindeer facts to write our informational writing pieces.
Daily Five/Reading – Students will practice blending sounds in syllables. Building and writing CVC/consonant-vowel-consonant words. Reviewing short vowel sounds. Students will practice retelling short stories and identifying problems/events in stories.
