News for the Week of October 17-21

Families,

Thank you for donating baked goods for the bake sale and thank you to those who helped volunteer after school on Thursday.

Dates to Remember

Monday, October 17 – October “Pumpkins” project is due and homework packets are due. Please return red and blue folders. On Friday your child brought home a book to read, “Bounce Bounce.” Please make sure they have practiced reading their book 3 times and return the book on Monday. I will be adding the book to their book bag in their book boxes.

Wednesday, October 19 – Library check-in and check-out.

Monday, October, 31 – Halloween Party 12:00-1:00 p.m. I have sent out a volunteer sign up on-line. If you would like to volunteer, please let me know .

Friday, October 28 – Nowlin Fall Fest 6-7 p.m.

Letters of the week – Gg, Hh

Math – Introduction to Daily 3 Math – Math by Self and Math with Someone. Working on apple ten frames, writing numbers 0-10, working with number boards and identifying numbers, counting by tens to 100, counting by ones to 30, matching numbers with groups/sets.

Social Studies – Finishing up on unit – How Do I Get Along With Others?

Science – Working on Five Senses – Sense of Smell.

Writing – We will start a new writing unit on Opinion writing. Students will use pictures and words to tell what they think about a topic or a book.

Daily Five – Introducing Read to Someone. Working on strategies; identifying the first sound in a word, when finished with left page move on to the right page, building stamina and fluency. Introducing emergent reader; I Like.
