Upcoming Events
Thursday, February 11 – Mrs. Polgar’s classroom Valentine’s Party from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. I will be having a small Valentine’s party and will only need a few volunteers to help students pass out Valentine’s. Students will pass out Valentine’s to friends in class. I have 25 students in my classroom. More information will be forthcoming about our classroom party.
Thursday, February 18 – Hundred’s Day Party – I will be having a Hundred’s Day party from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. I will need 4-5 volunteers to help with centers for this event.
Report cards will go home this week along with January NWEA scores.
Class Dojo – We have a new month to earn Dojo points. I am encouraging students to do their best everyday and to think about how others feel when you make negative choices.

Peek at the Week
Math – We will begin a new unit in math – addition and subtraction. We will learn different strategies to help us learn to add and subtract.
Social Studies – We will begin a new unit – Unit 2 Geography – Where Am I?
Science – New Unit – Life Science. Basic Needs – Living and Non-Living.
Daily Five – I am introducing a new CAFE Transition board. New strategies to help readers decode unknown words and strategies to help comprehend stories. Students will learn to retell a story and connect with a story. Learning di-graphs th, sh, wh, ch, ph. Reviewing vowel sounds – aeiou – activities. Working on building sight word fluency – knowing sight words automatically.
Writing – How to inform writing pieces. Last week we worked on How to Build a Snowman. This week we will look at how to brush your teeth and how to make a peanut butter jelly sandwich.
