Peek at the Week:
Daily Five/Literacy: Spelling words for week – “un” family run, sun, fun, bun. Sight words – is, has, for, are, you.
Fluency: I will send home a reading fluency sheet for short vowel “u”. Again, have your child read the fluency sheet 2-3 times for fluency practice. Practice buddy reading with your child and you read one sentence and have your child read the next sentence for fluency practice. When they hear another fluent reader that helps them to build their fluency.
Word work – review “l” blends – fl, bl, cl. New blends to learn pl, gl, sl – play, glove, sleep. Learning about CVCe – silent “e” words – “ake”, “ike” words such as; bake, make, take, like, bike, Mike.
Comprehension – reviewing elements of a narrative; characters, setting, action/events that take place in story, problem in story, retelling with a beginning, middle and end.
Writing – continuing with unit on Personal Narratives. Using a planner/organizer to help organize our writing.
Social Studies – continuing our unit on Geography. Study of the world with maps and globes. Learning how to read a map and make a map.
Math – This week we will not have math homework. We will work on unit assessments. I will send home a math review packet that covers number bonds, addition and subtraction.
