News for the Week of April 20-24

Parents,

We will begin this week of online learning structured to the district’s approved Continuity of Learning Plan. Please refer to Howard’s Blog for the Continuity of Learning Plan or Dearborn Schools web page. It is important that you refer to the Continuity of Learning Plan in order to understand your child’s learning expectations.

The district expects that all students will complete coursework posted weekly on Remote Learning Plans to the best of their ability. Completion of assignments and participation in Google Meets will be considered as student participation. Remote learning will continue until June 11th, the last day of school. Students will receive an end of the year report card and will be graded as followed:

Meeting- Student regularly submits work, has high participation and attends most Google Meets.

Progressing- Student submits most assignments and attends some Google Meets.

Limited- Student has little or no submitted assignments and little or no participation in Google Meets.

So, as we move forward with remote learning I will continue to post weekly assignments on my Blog every Sunday for the upcoming week. The Weekly Remote Learning Calendar can be found at the top of this Blog post under the Remote Learning tab.

In order to be graded for participation, I will be looking at Razkids, Zearn, attendance in Google meets and completion of assignments. Work can be submitted in Class Dojo student portfolios or photos (assignments) sent through messaging. I will begin grading for participation this week and I will continue commenting on work as it is turned in.

I would suggest that you have your child continue reading daily on Razkids and practicing math skills on Embarc.online and Zearn. In addition, attending Class Google meets each Tuesday at 1pm and completing weekly assignments as best as they can (Do not get overwhelmed, we just expect your child to do their best and accomplish what they can in a reasonable time frame).

If your child gets behind in assignments, I will reach out and send a Class Dojo message and check in with you. Please do not worry if you are a little late in turning in assignments. Please let me know, if you or your child needs additional support with any subject.

Lastly, a message from your Specials Teachers:

We would like to invite you to the Specials’ Google Meet! This is a fun opportunity to connect, share and ask questions of your Specials Teachers! Our meet for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades will be on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. The nickname for the meet is specials1420 and will stay the same for our meeting each week. We hope to see you there 🙂

As always, I want to thank families for your support and going with the flow during this time as we establish new routines and schedules.

Mrs. Polgar
