Monday, January 20 – No school in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.
Tuesday, January 21 – Half-day of school. Professional Development Day for teachers. Social Studies Timelines are due.
Peek at the Week:
Math – We will begin Module 4 in math the following week. We will be assessing the end of Module 3 and reviewing math concepts for the NWEA math assessment scheduled for Monday, January 27. So, there will not be any homework packets going home this week.
Social Studies – Students will present their timelines throughout the week. When we are finished with presenting our timelines we will display them in the classroom. You will get them back at the end of the month. We will review the terms past, present and future with historical examples.
Daily Five-Literacy – Sight words for the week – little, here. We will practice sight word sentences using the words little and here. (I have a little dog.) (Here is my coat.)
Digraph “ch” – writing and reading words with “ch” beginnings and endings.
Short vowel “i” study with “in” word family and “ip” word family.
Sequencing events in stories. We will read another version of the “Mitten” and compare story events and characters.
Writing – we will start a new informational writing unit on Arctic animals.
Science – We will continue to track the weather and discuss different types of severe weather.
