News for the Week of November 26 – 30

Back to school on Monday, November 26. I hope everyone had a restful and fun break.

Wednesday, November 28 – Pictures retakes on Wednesday. Library check-in and check-out this week only on Wednesday.

Homework packets/Math – new unit on measurement.

Letters of the Week – Qq  (queen, quiet) Vv (violin, vacuum)

Sight Words – play    (Sentence to practice – I like to play ball.  I like to play soccer.)

Math – new unit on measurement. Comparing lengths using taller than and shorter than with aligned and non-aligned endpoints. Comparing lengths with various objects.

Social Studies – Learning about needs and wants. Comparing needs and wants – what do we need to survive vs. what we want.

Writing – Informational unit on transportation. Learning about different modes of transportation and how we get to places near and far.

Literacy/Daily Five – Learning CVC words – identifying the middle vowel sound in a consonant-vowel-consonant word. Writing and spelling CVC words. Reviewing vowel sounds – Aa, Ee, Ii, Oo, Uu. Reading comprehension – understanding informational text – finding key details, main topic, interesting facts.
