News for the Week of November 5-9

Dates to Remember:

Monday, November 5 – Math homework packets will go home and will be due on Monday, November 12.

Tuesday, November 6 – No school. Election day.

Thursday, November 8 – Parent-Teacher conferences start after school. Reminders will go out this week with scheduled conference times.

Friday, November 9 – Library book check-in and check-out.

Peek at the Week:

Letters to focus on for the week: Gg  and Uu   Sight words – we, in  Sight word sentence to practice – We can go to the zoo.  We can go in the cave. We can play.

Writing – Personal Narrative. Continuing with writing elements of personal narratives. Planning a beginning, middle and end to stories. Adding characters, setting and events in stories.

Daily Five/Literacy – Continuing to stretch sounds out in words. Reviewing beginning sounds in words and working on ending sounds in words. Working on building independence while rotating stations during Daily Five.

Math – Starting Module 2 – Two-Dimensional Flat Shapes. Finding and describing flat triangles, squares, rectangles, hexagons and circles. Classifying shapes into categories using variants and examples. Describe and communicate positions of all flat shapes using the words above, below, beside, in front of, next to, and behind.

Science – we will begin a unit on weather beginning with studying seasons of the year.
