We had a great first week in Kindergarten!! We are still working on routines and transitioning into a full day. Week by week it truly gets easier. Please remember to return your child’s grey take home folder each day. At times I will have information that will go home. Please pack a light snack for your child as we only take 10 minutes for snack time.
Dates to Remember:
Thursday, September 13 – Join us for Open House from 6:00-7:30 p.m. You will get a chance to meet your child’s teacher’s and visit your child’s classroom. We look forward to seeing you and your child at this event.
Friday, September 14 – Half-day of school. 8:35-11:45 a.m.
Thursday, September 20 – Kindergarten Parent Meeting 6:00-7:00 p.m. Informational meeting will be held in Mrs. Polgar’s classroom. I will be going over Kindergarten curriculum, routines and an overview of the year. I will address any questions you may have during the meeting as well.
Friday, September 28 – No school for Kindergarten only. Kindergarten teachers will be attending district professional development.

Math – Classifying items into three categories, determining the count in each, and reasoning about how the last number named determines the total. Sort categories by count. Sort by count in vertical columns and horizontal rows. Match to numerals on cards. Working with a five frame. Identifying and writing numbers 1-5.
Writing – Writing about characters in stories and adding character details. Building stamina in writing during writer’s workshop.
