Dates to Remember:
Wednesday, May 9 – Mother’s Day Tea at 9:00 am. Will be held in the cafeteria.
Friday, May 11 – Field Day in the morning for Kindergarten. More information will be coming. Also, we will have Library on Friday at 2:45-3:10 instead of Wednesday. We did not have library last week as we were preparing for some upcoming events.
Wednesday, May 23 – Kindergarten Field Trip to Greenfield Village. More information will be coming regarding this event.
NWEA Assessments in Reading/Math will be held May 14-28.
There will be no homework packets for the remainder of the year. I would like students to focus on their spelling words with the Tic-Tac-Toe sheet and reading.
Spelling words for the week: “ed” word family bed, red, fed, wed, shed, led, bled, dred
Focusing on three letter s blends – str, scr string, scream, strike, scratch.
I have been assessing students with reading and I am amazed with the growth in reading and writing. I am sure you see it at home as they are reading to you. In reading for year end we are focusing on fluency and comprehension. Understanding what we have read and the meaning/main idea of the story.
I love this time of year when I look at where we started and see such amazing growth by year end. Makes my heart smile!!!
Have a great day!
