News for Week of April 10 – 14

Dates to Remember:

Monday, April 10 – Return blue folders/red folders did not go home over break. A new Tic-Tac-Toe spelling list will go home for the month of April.

Tuesday, April 11 – There will be a sub in the afternoon. I will be out for a workshop.

Wednesday, April 12 – Late start – school starts one hour later. Mini-Martian training after school.

Thursday, April 13 – Egg Hunt will be in the afternoon from 12-12:40 p.m. on the Kindergarten playground if the weather permits. If the weather does not permit we will have the egg hunt in our classroom. Please be sure to have your child bring 19 plastic eggs with a packaged candy treat enclosed. Students should have a container such as a basket/bucket with your child’s name printed on container to collect eggs.

I will need volunteers to help hide eggs and assist students with egg hunt. Please let me know, if you are available to help.

Friday, April 14 – No school.

Peek at the Week:

Spelling words for the Week – “in” family  in, fin, tin, win. Sight words – be, he, she.

Writing – Finishing up on Informational Writing on Plants/Life/Earth Science. Beginning new unit on All About Frogs.

Science – PLTW – Project Lead the Way – Three Little Pigs Unit. Building a House and collaborating in a group setting.

Math – Continuing unit on Math Measurement. This week we will study weight and learn about vocabulary words heavier and lighter with the pan balance.

Daily Five – we will learn about informational text features, engage in informational text reading and continue reviewing and learning new reading strategies from our Daily Five Cafe menu. April is also poetry month so we will read and write poems this month.

Social Studies – Pubic Discourse. We will focus on class issues and school issues. How do we resolve issues/problems in school.
