Tuesday, January 24 – NWEA Math testing for Kindergarten
Wednesday, January 25 – Library check-in/out
Thursday, January 26 – PBIS Celebration for the month of January. Students may bring electronics to class (game-boy, i-pad, tablet, etc.) to play games. We will be celebrating with a technology day with computer games/smart board games).
Friday, January 27 – Half-day for students. Dismissal time is 11:45 a.m.
Friday, February 10 – One Hundred’s Day Party. Still checking into time. We will need volunteers for stations.
Tuesday, February 14 – Valentine’s Party. I have two volunteers for the party. So, I do not need volunteers. We have 19 students in our classroom. Students need to fill out who the card is FROM only. Please do not have your child fill out who they are giving it TO. It is easier for students to pass out cards if they fill out who the card is from.
Peek at the Week
On Monday your child will come home with a spelling notebook with a list of spelling words and an information sheet about the spelling program.
This week’s spelling words are the “at” word family. at, bat, cat, mat. Sight words – and, the
Students will take assessments in math, social studies, science and reading. So we will review content through the week. The second report card period ends on Friday, January 27. Student report cards will be sent home the week of Jan 30th.
Writing – We will start a new unit on Informational – How To writing. We will write how to build a snowman to begin our unit. Students will learn transition words in writing – first, next, then, last. How to writing helps students learn organization in their writing. We will also look closely at the conventions of writing and making goals in writing – starting sentences with an uppercase letter, spaces, punctuation, neat writing, sounds and complete sentences.
