Dates to Remember
Monday, January 25 – Don’t forget to return red folders and sign progress reports. If your child did not turn in their green spelling notebook on Friday, please make sure they do on Monday.
Wednesday, January 27 – Library check-in and check-out.
Thursday, January 28 – PBIS celebration – Students who have earned Class Dojo points through the month of January will celebrate with a Dance Off in the afternoon on Thursday. By this time of year students are familiar with classroom routines, understand classroom rules and have an understanding of rewards and consequences for positive and negative behaviors in school.
Please encourage your child to use positive behavior everyday (use kind words, help others, listen and do their best work at school everyday). Thank you for your support!!!
Friday, January 29 – Records Day – 1/2 day of school. Dismissal 11:45 am.
Donations – we are in need of Kleenex and glue sticks (Elmer glue-sticks last longer).
Shoes – Please make sure your child has shoes to wear at school. It is important students have Gym shoes on Wednesday and Friday.
Snack – I have changed snack – time to 3:00 pm in the afternoon.
Peek at the Week
Spelling words for week – “et” word family bet, pet, get sight words – me, the, help
Writing – we will learn about text features with “How to Writing”. How to make a pizza, brush your teeth, build a snowman. Learn sequence words – first, second, third, next, last.
Reading – we have finished assessments in reading and students have completed the NWEA reading assessments as well.
Yea! back to reading groups. My class loves reading groups as much as me!! We will be working on sight word fluency, decoding words and comprehension – retelling a story.
Social Studies – We will take the Social Studies test on Unit 1 Who Am I? Unit on time – past, present, future. The time-lines were amazing and are hanging in the hallway. I love looking at those baby faces!
Science – we will be finishing up on our unit on Push/Pulls and take an assessment at the end of the week.
Math – we learned about 3D shapes last week and will learn about shape comparisons, naming 2D and 3D shapes and using items to build shapes with toothpicks, gumdrops.
Daily Five – I will introduce a new transition CAFE strategy board with new reading strategies. This will help our young readers decode words and use comprehension strategies to help understand stories they read.
Enjoy the day!
