Dates to Remember
Monday, October 5 – School picture day. If you would like your child to have their picture taken on Monday, please make sure you enclose a check in the Life Touch picture envelope. You can also order pictures on-line with Life Touch photos.
Monday, October 5 – Book Fair. Mrs. Polgar’s class will visit the Scholastic book fair at 9:30 am. An order form went home on Thursday, if you would like your child to purchase any books.
Red folders – Every Friday students will bring home Red Progress Folders. Please make sure you sign the progress report and have your child return the folder on Monday. Another great parent-teacher communication tool.
Class Dojo – I sent home a notice to sign parents up for Class Dojo during the week. Make sure you parent connect with Class Dojo. It is a behavior and progress system that Nowlin uses for classroom management. Dojo is a great communication tool for parents to see how there child is doing in school. Your child should be earning a point in the morning and a point in the afternoon each day of school. If your child receives a negative point -1, it may be they were not on task, not participating, talking out of turn, negative behavior, etc. The kids are very excited about earning points. So, ask your child if they earned any Dojo points each day.
Homework Packets – On Monday I will be sending home a homework packet. The homework packets are aligned with what we are learning in class. Please do a page a night of homework with your child. If you find your child is struggling with some of the homework, please do not continue or go back to the homework at a later time. The purpose of the homework is to reinforce skills and strategies learned in school with parent guidance. Please let me know if you have any questions, regarding the homework.
Class Project – A note will go home on Monday regarding the Class Pumpkin project. Most months, I will have a class project with a monthly theme. Students enjoy working with parents on projects and presenting their work at school. These projects help with speech and language skills and builds confidence. The October project will be due Monday, October 19.
