Peek at the Week
Spelling words – “at” family words – at, bat, cat sight words – and, to, go
On Fridays, Kindergartners will begin taking spelling tests. A spelling notebook along with a spelling word list will go home on Mondays. On Fridays, students will return their spelling notebook for spelling credit. Students are expected to read and spell words proficiently from the spelling list each week. In class, students will also work on word work using weekly spelling and sight words.
The second card marking will end January, 22. So, I have been busy assessing students in reading and math. I hope to be finished this week with assessments and I will send book bags home when I finish up on assessments. Student learning goals for the second card marking – recognize letters, know letter sounds, write upper-case and lower-case letters, count by ones to 50 or more, count by tens to 100, write numbers 1-20.
Writing – Informational Text. Artic Animals
Math – Geometry shapes, addition and subtraction strategies, number lines and comparing numbers – greater than, less than.
Social Studies – review for Social Studies unit test. Vocabulary – past, present, future, yesterday, today, tomorrow, beginning, middle, end.
Science – finish up on Science unit – Motion.

Have a great weekend!
