Happy New Year! I hope all of you had a restful and fun break. I want to thank the volunteers that helped out at the holiday party. Thank you to all for the holiday cards, gifts and candy. I appreciate your kind words and thoughts, it means a lot to me.
Here is a look at our week back to school:
Wednesday, January 8 – Earth science assembly
Sight word review – please review sight words from last year.

Math – Unit on Geometry shapes. 2D – 3D shapes. We have been working hard on identifying and writing numbers 1-20 in the second card marking. We will begin writing numbers 1-30 and counting 1-75.
Social Studies – New unit – Who Am I? Understanding concept of time – past, present, yesterday, tomorrow, today. How do we learn about the past – interviews, photographs, artifacts, journals, and books.
Science – Push/Pull unit. Understanding concepts of motion, force, push, pull, gravity.
Writing – Informational writing. Unit on Artic animals. Understanding informational text features.
Reading – Daily Five Boot Camp begins this week. We will review Daily Five components. Book bags will go home this week along with reading log.
I may be out of the classroom on Wednesday, January 7 for a District Science conference. Not sure as of yet, until we return to school.
