Dates to Remember for December
Monday, December 8 – Family Holiday Banner due.
Wednesday, December 10 – Late Start. School begins an hour late.
Wednesday, December 10 – Parent meeting at 6PM. Bring your child and join Mrs. Liepe our reading intervention coach, who will work with you and your child with reading strategies, word work activities and more. Snacks will be provided along with the chance to win some great prizes.
Thursday, December 11 – Santa Shop – Mrs. Polgar’s class will shop at 11 am on Thursday. Information was sent home last week in your child’s blue folder. This is an optional activity. If you would like your child to participate, make sure they have a list and money for purchasing gifts. Most gifts are $1.00.
Saturday, December 13 – Barnes and Noble Fundraiser in Allen Park on the hill. 1-4 PM. Please join us for this holiday event! Come listen to a guest read aloud, a holiday musical performance from one of our classrooms, enjoy crafts and more.
Thursday, December 18 – Mrs. Polgar’s classroom holiday party 1:30 – 2:30 PM. Mrs. Dowgiallo and Mrs. Givhan will be contacting you soon for volunteer support and for donations for the party.
Friday, December 19 – Come aboard and join the Polar Express in Mrs. Polgar’s Classroom. Students can wear P.J.’s on our last day before break and enjoy watching the movie, “The Polar Express.” Later, students and families will enjoy Nowlin’s traditional holiday sing-a-long in the Gym. Please come join us for our sing-a-long from 2:30 – 3:15 PM.

Letter of the week – Qq New sight words – you, go
We have a busy two weeks ahead of us. I will be assessing students in Social Studies on our Needs and Wants Unit. I will also begin assessing student’s in math as we end Unit 3 of Everyday Math.
By next card marking – January 22. Student’s should be writing their name with an upper case letter proceeded with lower case letters. Student’s should be practicing letter recognition, letter sound’s and the sight words that are listed on their homework packet. In math – student’s should also be able to count to 50 by one’s, count by 10’s to 100 and recognize numbers 1-20 and write number’s 1-20 in the correct formation and order. Extra practice at home will help your child meet their learning goals.
