Dates to Remember
Wednesday, December 3 – We did not have library last week due to the book fair being held in the library. Please have your child return their library book on Wednesday of this week.
Monday, December 8 – Next week the December Family Project will be due. This is my favorite family project, information will go home in your child’s blue folder on Monday.
Tuesday, December 2, I will be not be in the classroom in the morning. I will be attending a district math workshop with teachers. On Wednesday, December 3, I will be out all day, I have another district conference to attend. Ms. Leslie will be subbing for me on Wednesday.
A Peek at the Week
New Letter of the Week – Pp New sight words of the week – it, is
Writer’s Workshop – Before break, we enjoyed writing an opinion piece on pumpkin pie. We sampled pumpkin pie and wrote an opinion, Do you like pumpkin pie? Later we wrote a reason as to why we liked or disliked pumpkin pie. This week we will write personal narrative’s with a beginning, middle, and end.
Math Workshop – working on bar graphs, counting and writing by ten’s, working with teen frames, and ending our week with unit math games.
Science – Understanding the position of objects and relation to other objects around it. Next week, we will experiment with force/motion of objects.
Social Studies – Review goods and services. Understanding the purpose of trade and situations in which people trade.
Daily Five – Practicing CAFE reading strategies; weekly sight words, orally matching words that begin with the same sound, clapping syllables in one to three segments, retelling a story using characters, setting, events, and sequencing with the “Gingerbread Man story.” Continue working on CVC words along with vowel sounds.
