Dates to Remember
Friday, October 31 – Mrs. Polgar’s Halloween Party 12:20 – 1:20 PM. Volunteer sign-up sheet is in the classroom. Please make sure your child’s costume is placed in a labeled bag with their name. No masks, play weapons are allowed at school.
Tuesday, November 4 – No school. Teacher Professional Development Day.
Friday, November 7 – 1/2 day of school. Students are dismissed at 11:45 AM
Peek at the Week
Letter of the Week – Ii Sight word of the week – my Review – I, a, see, we, and, like.
Writer’s Workshop – Beginning informational text – how to locate important facts in a non-fiction text.
Math Workshop – identifying/matching coins, patterns, identifying tricky teens, writing numbers 1-20. Counting to 30 by ones and fives. Understanding place value with cubes.
Social Studies – Beginning in a new unit in Social Studies – How do I get what I need and want? Understanding needs and wants.
Science – Students will take the five senses unit assessment on Monday or Tuesday. We will begin a new unit in Science studying physical science with gravity and force.
Daily Five – Introduction to Listen to Reading, CAFE board strategies; recognizing lower-case letters, understanding parts of a sentence, recognizing when two words rhyme (Homework packet – “at” endings), comprehension – retelling a familiar story using the pictures.
Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for the ever-changing weather. Michigan weather at it’s best – Monday is suppose to be 70 degrees.
