Dates to Remember

Tuesday, October 14 – PTO/Parent Meeting – Topic: Homework and making the Most of Parent Teacher Conferences. 6:30 begins PTO meeting following will be the parent meeting at 7:00 pm.

This week the Kindergarten class will take the NWEA test in the computer lab.

Blue folders/Red folders – please return on Tuesday, October 7.

I will be out of the classroom on Wednesday, October 8 for a conference and on Friday, October 10 my son is having surgery. Ms. Leslie will sub in my class and is very familiar with classroom routines.

Student of the Month – last month the student of the month was Brooklyn Givhan. For the month of October the calendar helper is Tyler Munroe. Congratulations!

Letter of the Week – Review Ee and Introduce Ff

Sight word of week – Review sight words – I, a, see.   New word – and   Review color words – red, yellow, green

Homework – Homework packets are due on Tuesday, October 7. Also, students were to read their Apple books in their blue folder three times to a family member. We are working on matching word by word in a text by using our reading finger (pointing finger).

Peek at the Week

Writer’s Workshop – we are working on Personal narratives and learning about story elements. Adding characters, setting, words to our story. Matching story to picture.

Math Workshop –  We will focus on ten frame counting,  writing our home address with numbers, making shape collages, counting by ones and fives, and writing our numbers.

Language Arts – I will review Daily Five – Read to Someone and we will work on Daily Five strategies; recognizing upper-case letters and lower-case letters, and matching word by word in a text.

Science – Five Senses – we will work in centers on the sense of smell and touch this week.

Social Studies – Continuation of Unit 1 – How Do I Get Along with Others?
