READING GROUP BAG — Everyone has a new book to read three times each tonight, have someone sign when you’re finished. READ every day and focus on fluency and comprehension. To move UP reading levels students need to be able to read the words accurately and COMPREHEND (understand what I read). After reading books, please practice using the handout for the “retelling rope” see picture below!! (Don’t forget to ask your child– what was your favorite part of the story and WHY? or what did this story remind you of?)
Kindergarten Spelling Week of February 24th Test on Friday, February 28th! This week’s spelling words are: and is you pig big Plus 2 other words from the –ig family (such as jig, fig, wig, dig) Thank you for practicing spelling words EACH NIGHT by doing daily assignments (inside cover) in their spelling notebooks! ****Remember BONUS sentence must be perfect to get the bonus point! (Capital letter, finger spaces, neatly on lines, and correct punctuation mark at the end of the sentence.)****

Please do one lesson per day one for Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. DO ONE LESSON PER DAY. Watch the video and then do the lesson use the homework helper to help you.

Look over the new spelling list for the __ig family.
5. NEW library books were chosen on Tuesday. Students can keep at home and return after Mid-Winter break (Monday, Feb. 24) and we will check out new books on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
6. Kindergarten Timeline Project directions are in the folder today. Please follow directions and return to school on Monday, February 24, to present to the class.

Write each spelling word using blue for consonants and red for vowels.
6. POEM BOOKS ARE BACK!!!!!!!! Please read and discuss 100th day poem!! Talk about where does the poem begin, are there any rhyming words, sight words, commas, and ending marks. Please sign and return to school by Friday.
7. Library: Everyone picked a new library book today. Read, read, and read some more.

Wednesday is mix-match day, mix up your socks or your shirt and pants.
Friday is Valentine’s Day, please bring in 21 valentine’s cards and candy to share with the class.

Write each spelling word in pencil. Now use a crayon to trace each word in that color. Pick another color and repeat it.
