I hope you are having a wonderful summer, and I know you are working on your summer packets each day!  Remember to read and visit the websites: Moby Max, My On, and Everyday Math.  I am looking forward to seeing you in the fall.  I miss you all very much.  See you soon.

Kindergarten Ceremony TODAY at 2:00 pm

TOMORROW is our Kindergarten Celebration At 2:00pm

Please come to celebrate your child’s year of learning and fun!  The celebration will be held in the cafeteria.  The students will perform their songs from the music concert and certificates will be pass out to each student so BRING YOUR CAMERA!  Also, an important summer work packet will be discussed to parents so please attend if you are able.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CHILD TO BE DRESSED UP, PLEASE COME AT 1:45 with clothes for them to change into.  They do not need to be dressed up.  We will provide all students with caps.

We are looking forward to a fun celebration.

Kindergarten/First Grade News

Please have your children get a good nights sleep tonight and have them eat a healthy breakfast tomorrow morning.  We will take the reading NWEA tomorrow morning, and then we will be done testing for this year.

Thank you to all of my wonderful parents, I want to wish you a wonderful day tomorrow for parent appreciation day!!  Without you we would not be a team!

Spelling test tomorrow and reminder no school Friday, May 21 and Monday, May 25, 2015.

Reminders:  Field trip to the zoo is Wednesday, May 27, please bring a bag lunch no glass bottles.  Field day is next Friday, May 29, 2015.

First Grade News

Happy Monday!

No school this Friday, May 22 or Monday, May 25, 2015 Memorial Day vacation.

This week we will focus on:

Reading/ELA:  We will focus on the author’s reasons to support text, retelling stories, and comparing stories and characters.  We will also be writing a narrative story.  Your child should be reading 20 minutes a day and coloring a flower for May reading log.  Have your child highlight sight words in reading bag and read books in their reading bags and on MyOn.  Spelling homework is also daily please follow directions on white paper on the inside cover.

Spelling: Since it is a short week tonight 3 times each and ABC order, test is Thursday, May 21, 2015.

Math: we will continue to learn to solve problems.  Math homework practice worksheets, math bag activities/games and Xtramath and Everyday math.

Science:  We are learning about the life cycle of the butterfly.  We are raising butterfly in our classroom too.

Social Studies:  We will be learning about informing others about public issues.

April 29-Spring Picture day

Please bring $1 for Dollars for Daisy to purchase flowers to plant in front of the school.

April 30-Pajama day-$1.00 and animal assembly at 1:00

May 1-Anti-bullying assembly at 1:00

This week we will focus on:

Reading/ELA: We will focus on suffixes, author’s reasons to support text and text features.  We will also be writing an informational story.Your child should be reading for 20 minutes daily. Have your child practice highlighted sight words in reading bag and read books in their reading bags and on Myon.  Spelling homework is also daily please follow directions on white paper on the inside cover of your child’s homework.

Math: we will  learn about adding 2 digit numbers using base ten blocks and other strategies. Math homework will consist of practice worksheets, math bag activities/games and Xtramath and Everyday Math online. Math bags have been coming home please use the items in there to practice what we have been learning in class.

Science: We will be learning about and comparing insects.

Social Studies: we will be learning about rules, power with authority and power without authority.
