Image result for images of empty milk containersPlease send in empty milk cartons like the picture above as soon as possible.  We are working on our last Social Studies unit Public Discourse.  We are talking about keeping our Earth clean and we can do that by recycling and reusing materials to make something new.  My little artists will create bird feeders to welcome in Spring.  Please send them as soon as possible.  Thank you,

Homework & Reminders 4-21-17

This weekend’s homework:
  1. Folder- sign APRIL behavior calendar and SEE OUR ZOO FIELD TRIP PERMISSION SLIP—Return MONDAY WITH MONEY, especially if you would like to go with your child!!! $7.00 EACH for student and parent.— the zoo requires us to pay in advance of our trip so we must have money collected on MONDAY, APRIL 24th—thank you for your help with this!!
  2. Reading Bag- practice DIGRAPHS— today we learned “sh” and did the digraph song (YOUTUBE) and sight words (NEW words this week: “she” and “her”)  ***Make sure you LISTEN TO READING on MYON for at least 20, top 3 students to have lunch with me at the end of APRIL!!!!! Please read the NEW books in reading bags as well!!!  WE WILL BE DOING A SIGHT WORD ASSESSMENT NEXT WEEK SO PLEASE PRACTICE AND COMPLETE THE ORANGE SHEET SENT HOME IN FOLDERS TODAY.
  3. Math Bag- continue to work on number stories for addition and subtraction–-NWEA MATH WILL START ON MONDAY (she schedule in folders) the STARFALL.COM website has some fun games basic math skills– shapes, money, counting, etc.  ABCYA.COM also has some goo games based on grade level
  4. POEM BOOK- practice reading all poems and look for words that RHYME!

Bring back the permission slip for the zoo with $7, $14 if you are able to go with your child!  The field trip will be on MONDAY, MAY 1st but we must pay the zoo ahead of time.

  2. Reading Bag- practice DIGRAPHS— today we learned “sh” and did the digraph song (YOUTUBE) and sight words (NEW words this week: “she” and “her”)  ***Make sure you LISTEN TO READING on MYON for at least 20, top 3 students to have lunch with me at the end of APRIL!!!!! Please read the NEW books in reading bags as well!!!
  3. Math Bag- We are starting a new unit on MEASUREMENT and will focus on COMPARING LENGTH this week… please read family letter on page 221 in math workbook do activity on page 222 and complete page 223-224 AND 225-226 to put in your folder for me to check tomorrow
  4. Spelling Notebook– write consonants in blue and vowels in red

Spelling words for this week:

  5. ten

Nutrition Parent Meeting Tomorrow at 8:50

Hello Parents,

 

Michigan State University and Oakman school have partnered together with students and parents to bring this program to our families.

 

Join us for these free classes about nutrition beginning this Tuesday April 18th at 8:50 am in the cafeteria .  MSU students are also entering the classrooms and teaching the children so you can chat about it at home. Small changes can make a huge impact on your health!

  A translator will be provided for all 6 sessions and cooking demonstrations will be made with attention to healthy choices in middle eastern cuisine!

This Weekend’s Homework:

  1. Folder- sign APRIL behavior calendar and review graded assignments (spelling test, blends, and math test)
  2. Reading Bag- practice BLENDS and sight words (NEW words this week: “they” and “have”)  ***Make sure you LISTEN TO READING on MYON for at least 20 MINUTES EACH DAY—FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, top 3 students to have lunch with me at the end of APRIL!!!!! Please read the NEW books in reading bags as well!!!
  3. Math Bag- Use the yellow sheet to practice addition and subtraction with objects — Addition is put together and Subtraction is take away!! You can use dry erase markers to write on the 100 chart and yellow sheet to practice writing numbers with correct formation.
