Homework & Reminders 1-13-16

 

Tonight’s Homework:

  1. Folder-Ww paper (2 sides)  Remember W starts at the TOP and w starts at the middle line.
  2. Reading Bag- DIGRAPH chart, sight words, books!!— 15-20 minutes EACH Night!
  3. Math Bag- shapes book and math games.
  4. Social Studies Timeline Project- These projects will be due Tuesday, January 19th.  Please do not send to school until this date.  THANK YOU!

Reminders:

  1. Mark your calendars for  FRIDAY (January 15th) there will be a Parent Technology Workshop at 2pm in the computer lab.
  2. Looking Ahead to NEXT WEEK-
  3. No school Monday (January 18Th).
  4. Wednesday January 20th is late start.
  5. NWEA testing will be NEXT WEEK (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we will best testing in the morning so please make sure your child gets lots of rest, eats a healthy breakfast, arrives to school on time, and is ready to do their BEST on this important test).

Homework & Reminders 1-12-16

Tonight’s Homework:

  1. Folder-sight word at paper
  2. Reading Bag- DIGRAPH chart, sight words, books— 15-20 minutes EACH Night!
  3. Math Bag- shapes book and math games.
  4. Social Studies Timeline Project- As part of the Math and Social Studies curriculum, we have been talking about how people use a timeline to shown events over time.  As part of the Social Studies curriculum, it is expected that each child completes a timeline of their life to show the past present, and future.    Please use the attached construction paper with the template with started in class.  Please use a photograph or picture in the box and include a sentence explaining what is going on in the picture using the sentence stems“In the past, I was___________.”

    “In the present, I am____________.”

    “In the future, I will_________.”

    Please have your child practice sharing their timeline at home so they are prepared to share with the class.  We are working on talking in complete sentence so your child will be expected to read (say) all 3 sentences on their paper on their own.

    These projects will be due Tuesday, January 19th.  Please do not send to school until this date.  THANK YOU!

    Thank you for your assistance with this project.  Your child will need your help but please allow them to do as much as possible (they should do the cutting, gluing, and WRITING!)  They aslo need to practice speaking for sharing their project.

Tonight’s Homework:

  1. Folder-W bag! Today we talked about the letter Ww and its /w/ sound, like in Wednesday or window.  Please find 3-5 items at home that start with the w sound and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Tuesday, January 12th).
  2. Reading Bag- NEW DIGRAPH chart– they should practice this daily just like sight words, and books! To practice the digraphs, they should go c-h (ch sound) chick, w-h (wh sound), t-h (th sound) three, s-h (sh sound) sheep, and last p-h (f sound) photograph as we practice during read to self time today.
  3. Math Bag- Many students said they forgot to practice reading their shapes book and naming 2D and 3D shapes they see at home and out and about, for example at the store or park!  So please do this tonight!   Also, play math games– making 10 with red and yellow counters, card game “war” for comparing numbers (which is greater?), and dice game- roll, write, and draw the dots to show the quantity on the dice— Many students said they NEW practice reading their shapes book and naming 2D and 3D shapes they see at home and out and about, for example at the store or park!
  4. POEM BOOK still missing a few that need to be returned so we can add more poems- thank you.

This Weekend’s Homework:

  1. Folder-shape sort, cut, paste, and sort the shapes… the CHILDREN need to cut out the shapes and practice their cutting, it is THEIR homework not parents :)
  2. Reading Bag- NEW DIGRAPH chart– they should practice this daily just like sight words, and books! Tonight’s Homework:

  3. Math Bag- play math games (10 frame and counters, cards to compare, and dice for roll, write, and count)

Reminders:

  1. TOMORROW (Thursday) there will be a bake sale.  Please send in goodies with your child if you are able.
  2. Thursday, December 17th is HOLIDAY MOVIE NIGHT at 4PM in the GYM ($2.00 to enter and you get popcorn).
  3. Friday we will have a class party beginning at 1:45.  Please see the sign up sheet posted in the hallway for items needed for the party.
