This week is spirit week— get ready!!!

Spirit Week

(December 17-21)

In order for students to participate we are asking students to pay $1 a day. The proceeds will go towards charity for the children of Yemen.

Monday: Dress to Impress (Favorite dress, suits, tie, nice hair)

Tuesday: Sports Day/Oakman Gear (Favorite jersey, Oakman shirt)

Wednesday: Crazy Scientist Day (Crazy hair, wear older brother/dads button up shirt, white coat, safety glasses )

Thursday: Pajama Day

Friday: Wear Holiday Colors (green & red, santa hat)

1. Oakman Folder-Sign and return behavior calendar for DECEMBER!!

2. Reading/Math Bag-Please take 15 minutes to “read” each night and practice sight words ***NEW BOOKS IN BAGS AND NEW SIGHT WORD: have

** All sight words on ring are: I, the, can, see, like, to, look, at, come, and, a, we, go, my, in, is, has, for, are, here, you, dog, up, on AND today’s new word “have”. ***ALL should be memorized for reading and some should be able to spell on own.

3. READING GROUP BAG—> read NEW black and white book 3 times remembering to point to each word as you read AND extend to asking questions such as: “Find a sight word on this page. Point to word that starts with the /s/ sound. ETC.”

Sign reading log for new books! 

4. Math- Module 3, Lesson 3.  Review homework helper on page 207.  Do homework page 209.

Looking Ahead to next week…

Thursday, December 20th will be a parent meeting for Kindergarten at 2:30 in the classroom– we will talk about NWEA and learning activities to do over the break with your child, especially for math!

Friday, December 21 will be our classroom holiday party in the morning— parents are invited and encouraged to come have breakfast with us in the classroom and do some holiday crafts and games.  It will be from 9:00-10:30. See sign up sheet posted in the hallway!!

The school sing along will be Friday, December 21 at 2:00 in the GYM.

Homework & Reminders 12-12-18

1. Oakman Folder-Sign and return behavior calendar for DECEMBER!!  Long I WORD bag! Today we talked about WORDS that have a long i sound like, pie, bike, dime, tire, bride etc.  Please find 3-5 items at home that have the long i sound in the WORD and put them in this bag for your child to share in class tomorrow (Thursday, December 13th).  Thank you!

What’s Happening this Week?

Greetings Oakman Families,

On Saturday our FLL Jr. team competed at Whitmore Lake High School. Oakman’s teams were recognized for two categories and as a whole group. We are very proud of our student’s dedication and hard work. We are also very appreciative of the support of our parents and teachers.  WAY TO GO OAKMAN FLL JUNIORS!

Monday: Welcome back

Tuesday: 

***TOMORROW*****Wednesday: LATE START, school starts at 9:30am.
